When did we see it on the show?
A. In Episode 2, of Season 8, "Every Silver Lining".
Miami Metro
is trying to find Lyle Sussman, who has become the main suspect in the
Brain Surgeon killings - after his fingerprint was found on a victim.
They have already visited Sussman's own house, and found that he wasn't there.
So, In this
scene, in an attempt to locate him, Angel & Quinn go to Sussman's
mother's house, to see if she can tell them where he is.
The speak with his mother, and she tells them that she hasn't seen him in days.
But she
assures them that's not unusual, because Sussman is an avid hunter, and
spends a lot of time up at his cabin.
But she doesn't know the
address.
She says he
"always brings back something for the quilt", and brings out a large
furry blanket made from dozens of animal pelts. (Quinn is freaked out by
it, and Angel calls it "a nightmare in fur.")

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?
A. In the early seasons, I
usually had to hunt down the locations after viewing the episodes, using
clues from the various scenes. By the now, though, I've developed
a small group of fans, spies & tipsters who kept an
eye out for Dexter filming in their neighborhoods, and let me know in advance when something is about to film there.
Between those reports, my own personal reconnaissance around town, and a
few new resources I discovered, by the time the new first episode airs, I
already know most (but not all) of the filming locations, and only
need to watch the episodes and match up the scenes with the correct
locations.
This group of helpful fans includes Rick, Ellen, Suzi, Elaine, Mia,
Julie, Kerry, Joel, Eric, Jeff, & others. My thanks to all of them.
