Dexter Filming Locations: Briggs' Apartment

DEXTER Filming Locations - hundreds of actual places where the TV show Dexter was filmed.

The location: Briggs' Apartment

Q. What is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. An apartment house.

Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. Somewhere in Miami.

Q. When did we see it on the show?

    A. In Episode 2, of Season 8, "Every Silver Lining".

Debra and her boss, Elway, break into the apartment of late thief Andrew Briggs (Dexter killed him), to try to find out where he hid the jewels he had stolen.

Debra already has a key to a storage facility, but she doesn't know which storage facility.  So she's looking for clues.

Inside his apartment, she finds a bill from the storage facility, giving her the address.  So she heads out to recover the jewels.

Elway has a meeting, so she goes lone.  And as they leave in their cars, we see that they are being watched by hit-man 'El Sapo'.

Q. What is it actually in real life?

    A. And apartment house.

    Q. Where can I find it in real life?

This apartment is at 70 Claremont Ave, in the Belmont Shore section of Long Beach, CA., at the southeast corner of Claremont & 1st Street.

That's very near both Quinn's apartment house and Angel's house, as well as Angel's beach café and Deb's beach house.
And Vogel's house is just a few blocks to the north.

Also nearby is the alley where they later filmed the scene of police discovering 'El Sapo's body.

The stairway seen in the top screencap is towards the south side of the house.

When we see Deb & Elway go out to their cars, they are parked on Claremont Ave, facing north.

[ Warning: These are private apartments.  Do not trespass on their property,
knock on their doors, or do anything else that might disturb the residents. ]

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?

    A.  I knew they had been filming a lot in the Belmont Shore area, and fortunately for me, the house numbers (70 & 72) were visible in the opening shot.

So all I had to do was check out #70 addresses on the streets in that area, using Google StreetView.

I started at Bay Shore Avenue and planned to work my way west - but I lucked out, since Claremont Avenue is the very next street west of Bay Shore.
