Dexter Filming Locations: Angel Batista's House

DEXTER Filming Locations - hundreds of actual places where the TV show Dexter was filmed.

The location: Angel Batista's House

Q. What is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. A residential home.

Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. Somewhere in Miami.

Q. When did we see it on the show?

    A. We first see the house in a night time shot in Episode 1, of Season 8, "A Beautiful Day".

Inside, Quinn and Angel's sister, Jamie, are going at it like bunnies in the bedroom, when Angel suddenly comes home unexpectedly.

Jamie distracts him, while Quinn sneaks out the back.

Angel then looks through a box of LaGuerta's belongings.  He finds the warrants she had to tap Dex & Deb's phones, but he tears them up.

This house is likely to be a regular location this season... Stay tuned.

Q. What is it actually in real life?

    A. A residential home - just not in Miami.

Q. Where can I find it in real life?

    A. You'll find this home at 149 Bay Shore Ave, in the Belmont Shore area of Long Beach, CA.

That's right on the coast of the Alamitos / Naples bay. The sheltered beach is right across the street, and it's within easy walking distance of Angels Beach Café.

( In fact, if you spin the StreetView around, and zoom in, you can actually see the café from the house. )

It's also very nearby Quinn's apartment house and Vogel's home.

In reality, it's unlikely that Angel (or Quinn) could afford to live on this street, where the nearby homes go for over $1 million.

The set designers repainted the house right before they filmed - changing it from white to yellow, and they also added blue tile around the large front window.

(For the record, they also repainted Vogel's house and Quinn's apartment.)

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?

    A.  In the early seasons, I usually had to hunt down the locations after viewing the episodes, using clues from the various scenes.  By the now, though, I've developed a small group of fans, spies & tipsters who kept an eye out for Dexter filming in their neighborhoods, and let me know in advance when something is about to film there.

Between those reports, my own personal reconnaissance around town, and a few new resources I discovered, by the time the new first episode airs, I already know most (but not all) of the filming locations, and only need to watch the episodes and match up the scenes with the correct locations.

This group of helpful fans includes Rick, Ellen, Suzi, Elaine, Mia, Julie, Kerry, Joel, Eric, Jeff, & others. My thanks to all of them.

This tip came from Rick.  (Thanks, Rick!).
