Dexter Filming Locations: Hannah's Hotel

DEXTER Filming Locations - hundreds of actual places where the TV show Dexter was filmed.

The location: Hannah's Hotel

Q. What is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. A hotel.

Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. Somewhere near the Miami airport.

Q. When did we see it on the show?

    A. In Episode 11, of Season 8, "Monkey in a Box".

Hannah had been staying at Deb's beach house, while she & Dexter made plans to leave the country for Argentina.

But a suspicious Elway showed up (tipped off by Marshal Clayton) and saw enough to convince him that Deb was sheltering Hannah there.

That forced Hannah to find a new place to stay until the departure.

In this scene, Debra drops Hannah off in front of her hotel.

While sitting in the car, they discuss their odd relationship and their mutual affection for Dexter, as Debra grudgingly accepts that she's stuck with Hannah as a new member of their family.

Debra says that she thinks Dexter is making a mistake going after Saxon.

Q. What is it actually in real life?

    A. A hotel, but not in Miami.

Q. Where can I find it in real life?

    A. This is the Best Western Golden Sails Hotel, at 6285 E. Pacific Coast Highway, in Long Beach, CA. ‎

That's just south of Loynes Drive, where they've filmed many different scenes (including an early scene this season, where Dexter wakes up on the side of the road, after being drugged by Hannah).

It's next to (west of) the Los Cerritos Channel, and a small marina where they filmed a scene about a search for bodies last season.

It's right next door to the Gaslamp restaurant, where they filmed the scene of Debra shooting a bad guy (which earned her a lieutenant's badge).

And it's less than a mile from Naples Island, where the filmed the hit & run crime scene and the scene of Deb kissing Quinn.

It's also fairly close to Vogel's house, Saxon's apartment, and the church where they held Vogel's funeral.

I noticed that they changed one sign at the hotel, which, in real life, reads "PCH Club" (named after Pacific Coast Highway).  It was altered to read "BOH Club".

But they left the main awning untouched, since it only reads "Hotel Lobby".

Here is an aerial photo of the location.  And here is a map link.

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?

    A.  I've driven past this motel a million times, and I parked behind it last year when I shot photo of the lot where they filmed the search for bodies  scene.  It was easy to recognize.
