Q. What is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. A public street, scene of a road rage crime, with a dead bicyclist on the road.

Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. Somewhere in Miami.

Q. When did we see it on the show?

    A. In Episode 10, of Season 8, "Goodbye Miami".

Dexter and Miami Metro show up at the scene of a road rage incident, where a driver has struck & killed a bicyclist.

After shooting a few photos of the body, Dexter talks to Angel, telling him about his plans to leave Miami.

He tells Angel that "I've just had enough death in my life for a while -- I need a break."

Angel is understanding, and wishes him well.

Also in this scene, Masuka's daughter, Niki, arrives late, but Masuka realizes she is high on pot, and sends her home.

Q. What is it actually in real life?

    A. A small traffic circle.

Q. Where can I find it in real life?

    A. This is Naples Plaza, on Naples Island in Long Beach, CA.

Naples is a small, man-made island in Alamitos Bay, an upscale, residential seaside community noted for its charming canals (complete with gondola rides).

Most homes on the island feature private docks right outside, where owners can dock their boats.

Near the center of the island, on Ravenna Drive, is this small traffic circle.

In the center of that traffic circle is a small park with a large fountain at its center.  They filmed this scene in on the northwest side of that traffic circle, around 110 N. Ravenna.

It's a very picturesque place to take a stroll around the main canal, and it is especially delightful at Christmas time, when the homes are lavishly decorated for the holidays.

To get there from 2nd Street (the main thoroughfare that crosses Naples Island), turn south on Ravenna Drive, pass over a small canal, and the big fountain will be right in front of you.

While they were on the island, they also shot the scene of Deb kissing Quinn nearby, just a short distance from this fountain, near the canal.

The location is also close to Vogel's house (which is right across the bay from the island), and the park where they shot the yoga class scene (which is actually on Naples island), and it's close to the dock where Hannah's rich hubby parked his yacht.

Plus it's nearby Angel's beach cafe and Deb's beach house, both of which were featured in this episode.

I shot the photos below during filming in June of 2013.

A big Dexter fan from San Francisco, Sandra Z, was there as well, at the
same time, and sent me this photo of her posing with Angel (David Zayas):

    (Thanks, Sandra!)

Here is an aerial photo of the plaza.  Here is a Google StreetView.
And here is a map link.

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?

    A.  I was here when they filmed the scene, shooting the photos you see above.

But I've also spent a lot of time on my own, walking around the island, so there's no way I would have failed to recognize that plaza fountain.
