Iron Lake High School |
In the fourth
episode,
there is an emergency situation at the high school involving Harrison.
At first it seems that Ethan had planned an attack on the school as revenge
for being mistreated, and that Harrison stopped him, and was injured in
the process. As a result, Harrison is hailed as a hero. But Dexter is suspicious,
and confirms that the blood spatter from the incident doesn't match
Harrison's story. The evidence leads Dexter to conclude that Harrison
was the aggressor, and then, after injuring Ethan, inflicted the wound
on himself to make it look like he was the victim.
Q. What is it actually in real life? A. An actual high school, just not in New York.
Q. Where can I find it in real life? A. In the real world, this is Nashoba Regional High School, at 12 Green Road, in Bolton, Massachusetts. ![]() ( Photos courtesy of Ron B. )
This is one of the few key Iron Lake locations that Isn't located in Shelburne falls, where you'll find most of the main Iron Lake spots, such as the Iron Lake Tavern, the Iron Lake Police Department, and Fred's Fish & Game. In the fourth episode, it is implied that the high
school is on the west side of the river (along with the Tavern and the
Police Department), when we see people hurrying west across the iron bridge following an emergency alert at the high school But "Iron Lake" (Nashoba) High School, is actually some 60 miles east of Shelburne Falls and the rest of
those Iron Lake locations. ![]() But it is near some other Dexter New Blood locations. It's less than two miles south of the spot where Angela pulled Dexter over to the side of the road in the first episode, and about four miles east of Edward Olsen's mansion. You can find the school's website here. They filmed at this school for about two weeks
in July 2021, a longer time than just about any other one location (with
the possible exceptions of Shelburne Falls and Camp Collier).
But at the time, I didn't know they were filming anything else there, other than that theatre scene. However, a few days later, DexterDaily ran a story about them filming at a high school, with fake snow, and included the name and address of the school (which I found a bit irritating, since I had just spent a long time tracking it down myself). After that, there were a number of local news stories about Dexter filming at Nashoba. Later, Ron B. drove out the campus and shot the photos you see above. ( Thanks, Ron ! )
