Most of the
famous stars of the Silver Screen
are buried right here in Los Angeles.
By visiting the local memorial parks listed in this chapter, you can visit
the graves of megastars such as Rudolph Valentino,
Marilyn Monroe,
Jack Benny, Bing Crosby
and Clark Gable,
as well as more recently departed celebrities such as Paul Walker, Elizabeth Taylor, Gene Autry,
Jimmy Stewart, Dean Martin,
John Candy,
Telly Savalas, George Burns,
and Michael Landon.
Most of these
parks are surprisingly beautiful spots, with manicured green lawns and
modern, brightly-lit mausoleums. All of these cemeteries are open to the
public, although their attitudes towards tourists differ widely.

The friendly folks
at Pierce Bros. Westwood Memorial
Park, for example, will gladly point out a particular star's grave
if you ask them, and at Hollywood Forever they will even give you a detailed map showing the locations
of the stars' graves.
On the other hand, those in charge of the Forest
Lawn parks tend to discourage star-gazing, and they refuse to give
out any information about the final resting places of the many celebrities
buried there.
But with the detailed
maps provided on these web pages, you should have no problem locating the
stars you want to find.
[IMPORTANT:
Bear in mind that these are cemeteries, and respect for
the departed
and their families demands that visitors exercise reasonable decorum
while
paying their respects to the stars at these memorial parks.]
