Q. What is it supposed to be on the show?

A.  A house on the beach.

Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?

A. In Newport Beach.

Q. When did we see it on the show?

A. In Season one, Episode 1, "The Pilot", when (after the Fashion Show party), Ryan & Seth are invited (by Marissa & Summer) to a party at Holly's beach house. Despite Seth's initial reluctance, they go there, and find the party heavy on teen sex & drugs.

(Ryan repeats Seth's earlier caution: "Welcome to the dark side.")

When a drunken Summer flirts with Ryan, Seth gets jealous and stomps out. Unfortunately, he runs into Luke and his henchmen out on the beach, who start to push him around. Ryan intervenes to rescue Seth, and gets beaten up himself (then Luke delivers the now classic line: "Welcome to the O.C., bitch.")

Q. What is it actually in real life?

A.  A house on the beach - but not in Newport.

Q. Where can I find it in real life?

A. It is right on the sand at 30708 Pacific Coast Highway, in Malibu, up past (northwest of) Point Dume, on the west (beach) side of Pacific Coast Highway, just a few houses southeast of where Trancas Canyon Road meets Pacific Coast Highway.

This same beach house was used again a year later - for yet another party and another fight - in "The O.C. Confidential", in the scene where Ryan & Marissa go "undercover" to expose a drug dealer (and clear Trey's name).

A. I didn't. This was one of the six locations on this site that were discovered by a group of O.C. fans from Italy, who emailed me (in June 2006) to let me know where it was. Paolo is responsible for this one. Thanks, guys.
