WHAT: Warner Home Video and the AFI will celebrate the DVD debut of "Citizen Kane," Orson Welles' classic motion picture, by re-creating the film's actual premiere at the El Capitan Theatre just as it took place 60 years ago on May 9, 1941. Stars from the past and present will arrive in antique cars at the theater and walk the red carpet under a replica of the original marquee. The themed party will be decorated with all the '40s glitz and glamour to re-create the premiere event at the place where it all began. WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 20 5:45 p.m. arrivals for 6 p.m. reception 7:30 p.m. screening WHERE: El Capitan Theatre & Entertainment Center 6838 Hollywood Blvd. South side of Hollywood Boulevard, just west of Highland Ave. About "Citizen Kane" & the DVD Release Long regarded as the greatest movie of all time, "Citizen Kane" has been breathtakingly restored in a 60th Anniversary Double Disc Edition packed with extras, including the Oscar-nominated documentary "The Battle Over Citizen Kane," chronicling Welles' fight with publishing czar William Randolph Hearst. The DVD debuts nationwide on Sept. 25. Heralded as the No. 1 movie of all time on "AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies" list, this classic's DVD will feature a breathtakingly restored picture and audio and digitally remastered video from the highest-quality surviving elements, along with a variety of extras. Starring, produced, directed and co-written by Welles, "Citizen Kane" was nominated for nine Academy Awards(R), winning the Oscar(R) for Best Screenplay.
