Spread (2009) - Filming Locations

The actual Southern California locations where the
2009 Ashton Kutcher movie
"SPREAD" was filmed.

Part 1

'Nikki' (Ashton Kutcher) spends much of the movie at the posh hilltop home of 'Samantha' (Anne Heche)
-- before she finally tires of his dishonesty and kicks him out.

That unique house is located at 7869 Fareholm Drive, in the Hollywood Hills.

At the time this film was shot, the home belonged to fashion designer Randolph Duke, and it made
the cover of Architectural Digest in 2007. He later sold the house (in late 2009) for $5 million.

[ Warning: this is a private apartment home.  Do not trespass on their property,
knock on their door, or do anything else that might disturb the residents
    . ]

The club where Nikki first meets (and picks up) Samantha is actually
Marbella, upstairs at 6757 Hollywood Blvd, in the heart of Hollywood.

We see them enter via a back alley entrance on club's north side.

(Here is a Google StreetView panorama of the club.)

The club has its own website at www.marbellala.com

After he moves in with Samantha as her boy toy, she takes him out for a shopping spree.

In the photo above, we see them coming out of the Lisa Kline for Men shop, at
141 SRobertson Blvd, on the border between West Hollywood & Beverly Hills.

(Here is a Google StreetView panorama of the shop.)

Samantha goes out of town and lets Nikki stay in her home while she's gone.
(Naturally, he cheats on her, in her own house.)

In this scene, we see him seeing her off at the airport.

This scene was shot near 600 World Way North, at Los Angeles International Airport.
    The camera is looking east.

(The same airport was used for a later scene of Harry seeing off Nikki, when he goes to New York.)

(Here is a Google StreetView panorama, matching the view above.)

When Samantha leaves town, Nikki has sex in her house with 'Emily' (Rachel Blanchard),
a girl who has genuine feelings for Nikki -- feelings that he doesn't share.

In the scene above, he drops Emily off after their heated rendezvous.

This scene was shot in the parking lot of the Liquor Locker, at 8161 WSunset Blvd.
(at the northwest corner of Sunset & Selma).

That's on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, just east of the Chateau Marmont.

(Here is a Google StreetView panorama of the lot.)

Nikki visits a diner, and becomes fascinated with a waitress, 'Heather' (Margarita Levieva) who plays hard to get.

Unfortunately for him, Heather turns out to be a fellow hustler, who knows as many tricks as he does.

That cafe is actually Fred 62, at 1850 NVermont Ave, in the Los Feliz section of Los Angeles.
(It's at the northeast corner of Vermont & Russell)

(Here is a Google StreetView panorama of the restaurant.)

The 24-hour cafe has its own website, at www.fred62.com

When Nikki finally manages to talk Heather into going out with him, we see them about to dine at a restaurant,
when Heather (playing games with his head) suddenly gets a cell phone call and leaves.

He follows her outside, shocked that she'd leave, and she tells him to call her -- as she drives away.

That restaurant is La Poubelle Bistro, at 5907 Franklin Ave, in east Hollywood.

(It's right across the street from that giant Scientology castle you see from the Hollywood freeway.)

Here is a Google StreetView panorama matching the shot below.

The cafe has its own website at www.lapoubellebistro.com

When Samantha finally wises up and Nikki leaves her house, he temporarily finds
himself on the street. We see him hanging his wet clothes on a fence to dry.

That scene appears to have been shot near 1771 Tamarind Ave, in Hollywood
a church parking lot which overlooks the Hollywood (101) Freeway.

Looking for a place to stay, Nikki gets desperate enough to go to Emily's apartment, despite the
shoddy way he has treated her in the past.  Emily is smart enough to tell him to go to hell.

That apartment house is named the Royal Carlton, and you'll find it at 5611 Carlton Way, in east Hollywood.

(Here is a Google StreetView panorama of the motel.)

[ Warning: this is a private apartment house.  Do not trespass on their property,
knock on their doors, or do anything else that might disturb the residents

So, he phones his friend Harry (Sebastian Stan), hoping to move in with him, and finds him at a strip club.

But that doesn't work out well. The guy with Harry mistreats one of the strippers,
and Nikki punches him out, resulting in a big argument between Nikki & Harry.

That strip club is real.  It's the Seventh Veil, at 7180 WSunset Blvd, in Hollywood.

(Here is a Google StreetView panorama of the place.)

Failing to get into his usual club (and hence unable to pick up a new woman to exploit), Nikki suddenly finds
himself without a place to stay, and goes back to Harry's apartment house as a last resort.

But Harry is still angry about the earlier argument at the strip club, and he throws
Nikki's stuff off the balcony and tells him he can't stay there.

Harry's apartment house is actually named Park Andrew Plaza, and you'll find it
at 1655 NStAndrews Place, in east Hollywood.

(Here is a Google StreetView panorama of the apartment house.)

[ Warning: this is a private apartment house.  Do not trespass on their property,
knock on their doors, or do anything else that might disturb the residents
