Marvel's Agents of SHIELD - Filming Locations: South Beach pickpocketing

The Southern California locations where Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is filmed.

Episode 4, of Season 2 ("Face My Enemy")

This short scene opens on a beach.

A caption tells us it's "South Beach, Florida". It is not.

We see S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Lance Hunter walking along the beach, holding hands with a girl
who (we learn later) is Gabriel Soto's executive assistant.

Soto is the rich man throwing a lavish party at his mansion, where he will show off
the 16th century painting recently discovered in the ruins of a burned church.

Coulson wants to attend that party and get the painting, so the team needs
the flash drive hidden in the assistant's purse, which contains the guest list
database for the party. That's where Lance comes in...

He romances the poor girl, and while they're kissing on the beach,
he picks her pocket -- stealing the flash drive from her purse.

At the perfect moment, Skye drives by on a motorbike, and Lance hands off the flash drive to her.

She grabs the dangling flash drive, then returns to SHIELD HQ and uses the drive to
access the list of guests at Soto's party (where the tickets cost $25,000 each), then
adds the aliases of Coulson & May ("Charles & Heidi Martin") to the guest list,
so they can get into the party at Soto's Miami mansion.

Not surprisingly, this is actually Long Beach, California.

The city of Long Beach has lately specialized in portraying Miami on shows that
are actually shot here in SoCal, including "Dexter" and "CSI: Miami".

To be more specific, the couple are walking on a bike path that runs along a south-facing
beach that stretches from near the downtown L.B. area, southeast to the Belmont Pier.

In the background, you can see two Long Beach landmarks: the green rooftop of the
Villa Riviera, and the round International Tower seen in "Lethal Weapon".

The camera is looking west/northwest up the beach, as the couple walks
east along the bike path. They are just west of Bluff Park, and about a
mile and a half southeast of Shoreline Village and the L.B. Aquarium.

In the shot (above) of Skye riding away on her bike, the tall building near the center of the
screencap is a condo at 1750 E. Ocean Blvd, to its right is an even taller condo
called simply "1900 Ocean" (which was featured in a "Dexter" episode.)
