The Southern California locations where Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is filmed.
Episode 11, of Season 2 ("Aftershocks") 38:00 / 50:00: After Lance Hunter allows himself to be "bribed" by Bakshi under a bridge, as part of a S.H.I.E.L.D. sting, he drives an unsuspecting Bakshi to a Bloom winery, a rural estate owned by Hydra leader Octavian Bloom. We only see the exterior grounds of the vineyard during the daytime once, in a brief shot of Bloom talking to Bakshi on the phone, back during the bridge scene: ![]() By the time Bakshi arrives in Hunter's SUV, it's night time. He has Hunter wait in the SUV while he walks towards the wrought iron gates (after promising him untold riches for letting him live). A sign nearby reads "Bloom Estate Winery". He shows his face to the security camera, the gates swing open, and he jogs inside. ![]() But Bakshi inadvertently plays right into S.H.I.E.L.D.'s hands by delivering the false information to Bloom that his fellow Hydra agents are planning to kill him in a takeover bid. This results in Bloom ordering the slaughter of those fellow Hydra bosses. Meanwhile, outside, as soon as Bakshi is gone, Lance's ex wife (Bobbi) joins him in the SUV. Despite Bakshi's promises of a handsome reward, he instead tries to betray Hunter by sending a group of armed Hydra assassins out to kill him in his car. As Lance and Bobbi wait inside, the Hydra assassins riddle the SUV with gunfire. Unfortunately for them, they get more than they bargained for. The SUV is bulletproof. And it can fight back. Rows of machine guns appears on the side of the SUV and quickly wipe out the Hydra force: Once inside the estate, Hunter & Bobbi gun down Bloom and his Hydra bodyguards, leaving only Bakshi alive - whom they take into custody. Bakshi realizes what has happened, that Coulson has tricked them into killing each other. ![]() These winery scenes were shot at two different locations, albeit very close to each other: An actual vineyard, called Malibu Family Wines (otherwise known as Saddleback Ranch), at 32111 Mulholland Highway, in the hills above Malibu, CA And just a mile away, Calamigos Ranch, at 250 Latigo Canyon Road. It's not completely clear which shots were filmed at which location, but it appears that they filmed the daytime outdoor shot (at the top of this page) at Malibu Family Wines: ![]() Here is a Google StreetView of the entrance to the winery. Besides being a vineyard and a wine-tasting spot, its beautiful grounds are also very popular as a wedding venue, and have hosted celebrity weddings including those of Kelsey Grammar, Lisa Kudrow, and the Eagles' Don Henley. (Here is the official website for the winery.) ![]() But they apparently filmed the gate-crashing / shootout scene nearby at Calamigos Ranch: ![]() ( Here is a Google StreetView of the entrance to Calamigos Ranch. ) They actually put up a fake wrought-iron gate there, so they could smash the car through it. It would appear that the gate was filmed on Calamigos Road/Latigo Canyon Road (leading into the Ranch), a short ways in (southwest) from Mulholland Highway. What exactly is Calamigos Ranch? That's not an easy question to answer. It's not strictly a movie ranch, per se, although they do a lot of filming there. Covering 130 acres, it's bigger than Disneyland, and serves a number of roles. as an event center, it hosts weddings, bar mitzvahs, company picnics, conferences, seminars, workshops - that sort of thing. It also contains a restaurant called the Malibu Cafe. The ABC Family show "Bunheads" was filmed there. And so were key scenes from the Halle Berry series, "Extant". It was also the location for TV's "The Biggest Loser".
