Marvel's Agents of SHIELD - Filming Locations: The Unsuccessful Sting

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD

The Southern California locations where Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is filmed.

Episode 1, of Season 2 ("Shadows")

We see Skye, Melinda May & Trip spying on a sting operation taking place in an old dockside warehouse.

Two new S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives, Izzy Hartley (Lucy Lawless) & Lance Hunter are making a deal
with an ex-
S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, Roger Browning, who is now selling secrets to the highest bidder.
He makes it clear he doesn't care if the buyers are Hydra or just in it for profit.

May instructs Skye not to interfere until the deal is made.

Browning shows the S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives a photo of a box labeled "S.S.R. - Item #: 084", which is the
exact same box we saw Agent Carter lock up in the WW2/Nazi flashback that began this episode -
which means it contains the mysterious & dangerous "Obelisk", which can turn people to stone.

Browning tells them it's the only item he knows of that has a Level 10 S.H.I.E.L.D. classification.

Suddenly, they are attacked by a bald stranger, who turns out to be "Crusher" Creel, otherwise
known to Marvel fans as "The Absorbing Man".  He easily takes out Browning and his bodyguards.
Izzy & Lance open fire on the intruder, but the bullets don't have much of an effect.

Creel grabs the folder with the photo and leaps out a window - despite a 25-foot drop.

As the bodyguards are coming to and taking aim, Skye & May show up
and shoot them - something that isn't appreciated much by Izzy.

As sirens signal that the police are on the way, Izzy phones Coulson for orders.
He tells them to "Go dark".

This scene was shot at an old favorite of L.A. location scouts:
Al Larson's Boat Shop, at 1046 S. Seaside Ave, on Terminal Island.

Terminal Island is located in the L.A. harbor, just across the main channel from
(east of) San Pedro, south of Wilmington, and east of Long Beach.

If you've ever seen the Vincent Thomas Bridge (which has appeared in
its own fair share of movies), the purpose of that bridge is to link
Terminal Island to both San Pedro and Long Beach.

Al Larson's Boat Shop is just what it sounds like: a place where boats
are repaired - everything from tugboats and fireboats to yachts.

Established in 1903, it is the oldest shipyard in Southern California.
This scene was shot inside its large machine shop.

Since it's a unique & picturesque waterfront spot, it pops up often as a filming location on
TV shows like "24", "Castle", "Criminal Minds", "CSI", "NUMB3RS" and "The X-Files",
plus movies like "Pearl Harbor", "Spider-Man", "Pirates of the Caribbean", & "X-Men".
