The
location: Trinity Stalking Woman |
Q.
What is it supposed to be on the show?
A. An outdoor
shopping area.
Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show? A. Somewhere
in Miami.
Q. When did we see it on the show? A. In Episode 2 (of Season 4), "Remains To Be Seen ". After killing his first (female) victim in a bathtub, we see the Trinity Killer (played by John Lithgow) stalking his second victim, a woman with two children. We first see him sitting at a table on a brick patio, when he spots the woman and her children passing by. He follows them. We see Trinity trying on sunglasses while watching the family. Lagging behind, the woman's young son bumps into Trinity (while carrying an ice cream cone), who uses the opportunity to speak briefly with the boy. Finally, we see Trinity watching as the family stops outside a pet shop to look at some puppies. (He
uses this intel later, walking a dog near his victim's
home, to lure the woman into talking to him.) Q. What is it actually in real life? A. A seaside shopping/dining center.
Q. Where can I find it in real life? A. This is Fisherman's Village, a charming (but aging) nautical-themed tourist spot that has often served as a filming location. (It's reminiscent of San Pedro's Ports O'Call Village, but in better condition.) A collection of seaside restaurants & shops, the "Village" sits on the edge of the marina channel, next to rows of docked yachts and tour boats. You'll find it at the west end of Fiji Way, in Marina Del Rey, CA. The brick patio where we first see Trinity appears to be the patio at Shanghai Red's, a large restaurant at the far south end of Fisherman's Village. When we see Trinity in the subsequent scenes, he (and the family) are walking along the back (west side) of the village, next to the marina channel. (And no, I don't believe there is really a pet shop at the Village.) Fisherman's Village isn't far from the hotel which was used on the show as both the Reef Hotel and the Lundy's Bluewater Hotel this season. And it's close
to Zoey Kruger's home. And the Village is right across the channel (south of) Burton Chase Park, where they filmed Dexter & Rita's wedding scene last season.
I shot the photos below in 2006.
Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was? A. I've been to Fisherman's Village on many occasions. I recognized it the minute I saw it. (Plus, I
had also been there to shoot the photos above when it was the filming location
of another TV show: The O.C.).
