Dexter: Original Sin Filming Locations: Sofia's house
The
location: Sofia's house
Q.
What is it supposed to be on the show?
A. A residential house, the home of Debra's high school friend, Sophia.
Q.
Where is it supposed to be on the show?
A. In or near Miami, Florida.
Q.
When did we see it on the show?
A. We see the house in Episode 6, of Season 1.
At the end of a double date with Deb & Gio, after Dexter helps them hotwire a car at Tiffany's house, the two couples go their separate ways, and Dexter drives Sofia home.
We see Dexter's truck pull into Sofia's driveway.
She then asks Dexter if he wants to hang out tomorrow, and he lies and
tells her he has to attend league bowling practice. (He's actually
planning to kill Levi Reed.) She's amused that a young man is into
league bowling, a sport she associates with middle aged men.
She then kisses him goodnight, and Dexter thinks that he finds dating fun but exhausting.
Q.
What is it actually in real life?
A residential home.
Q.
Where can I find it in real life?
A. This scene was filmed at 14638 Hamlin Street, in Van Nuys, CA.
That is in L.A.'s San Fernando Valley, about 2 miles northwest of Tiffany's house, and about 5 miles northwest of the studio where they film Original Sin.
Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?
A. I didn't.
Given it how dark it is in the scene, and how little is seen of
the house, with no street numbers visible, I might never have found this
one, if it wasn't for a tip from someone who let me know they were
shooting here.
