Dexter, having recently become a police intern with Miami Metro, gets to
accompany the team on a crime scene investigation for the first time.
There, they find the dead body of a man lying on the parking lot in front of a strip mall. The victim has been shot in the head.
Dexter is sent across the street on the menial task of getting coffee for the group, but he doesn't complain .
Dexter enthusiastically tries to impress the team with his forensic analysis of blood
spatter, indicating that the man had been shot at close range by
someone standing right in front of him. But he is somewhat embarrassed
when they point out that conclusion is obvious from the powder burn on the victim's forehead.
