The
location: Julio's Auto Body |
![]() A. An automotive
garage. Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show? A. 3781 E. Calle Ocho St, in Miami.
Q. When did we see it on the show? A. Only once, in a short scene in Episode 12 (of Season 4), "The Getaway".
Trinity goes to Julio's Auto Body, a bright yellow garage, where he picks up his newly-painted Ford Mustang (which had been smashed by his son) Over the objections of the workers there, he drives off in the freshly-painted car. Later, we see
him driving along smugly in his
Mustang, sure that he has escaped justice, before eventually breaking down
on a lonely road, where he is
captured by Dexter. Q. What is it actually in real life? A. A garage.
Q. Where can I find it in real life? A. This is M&V Auto Gonzalez, at 13201 Van Nuys Blvd, in Pacoima, CA. It's at the northwest corner of Van Nuys Blvd and Ralston Ave. The city of Pacoima is located in the northwest corner of the San Fernando Valley, west of the Hansen Dam. This location
is less than a mile west of both Cody's
school and the "Four Walls, One Heart" build site
(where Trinity tries to bury a boy in cement).
Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was? A. I had been looking for this garage for weeks, without success. I checked the usual "Dexter" haunts: Long Beach, San Pedro, Hollywood... But it wasn't there. Since it appeared to be an Hispanic-owned business, I then moved on to search Hispanic neighborhoods such as Wilmington and East L.A. But the garage wasn't there, either. Finally, in early 2010I got a tip from a fan, Rick, who gave me the address. It turned out to be up in Pacoima - one of the last places I would have thought to look. Better yet, that one tip led to my finding two additional locations, I know that the Dexter crew likes to "cluster shoot", that is, shoot at least two or three different scenes while they're in an area. So once I found Julio's garage, I assumed that other missing locations could be nearby. First, I went looking for Cody's school in the same area. I found it quickly, less than a mile away from Julio's, by simply Googling for schools in Pacoima. And
while I was looking around the map near Cody's school, I spotted the "Habitat
for Humanity" build site just
one block north of the school. (Thanks,
Rick!)
