Dexter: Resurrection Filming Locations: Harrison in the park with Elsa.

DEXTER: Resurrection Filming Locations - the actual places where the TV show Dexter: Resurrection was filmed.

The Location
: Harrison in the park with Elsa.

Q. What is it supposed to be on the show?

A. A park.

Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?

A.  In New York City.

Q. When did we see it on the show?
A. In Episode 7 of Season One of Resurrection.

Harrison and Elsa are together in a park, while her son Dante plays nearby.

A body of water is visible just beyond the wrought-iron fence they are walking near, and there is a view of the city across the water.

They have a relaxed conversation while leaning against a fence overlooking the river.

Elsa tells Harrison that her landlord is still acting like a jerk.

He tells her that he has changed his plans for the future, that instead of a career in hospitality (hotels), he's thinking of getting into law enforcement and possibly becoming a cop.

She's surprised, but she then recommends that he look into Collings College of Criminology, saying that her cousin went there.

( This eventually leads to the scenes later on in the episode in which he does take a tour of Collings College, where he met meets Gigi, audits a class with Dexter, and has an accidental meet-up with Detective Wallace. )

Q. What is it actually in real life?

A. A park.

Q. Where can I find it in real life?

A. This is Carl Schurz Park, located at East 86th Street & East End Ave, along the coast on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, in Yorkville.

They shot this scene with the pair on John Finley Walk, which runs along the east edge of the park, next to the water of the East River.

(  From the view of the buildings in the background, it appears that they shot this scene near the far south end of the park. )

Among other things, The park contains Gracie Mansion, a 1799 home which serves as the official residence of the mayor of New York City.

Here is a matching StreetView of the park :

Here is an aerial photo of the location.  And here is a map link.

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?

A. First, I found this video from a girl named Pamela (who goes by the moniker “Sistapam” on Youtube), who stumbled across the Dexter crew filming this scene in the park, and captured some video and still photos.

She mentioned they were filming on the Upper East Side. And it was obvious that they were walking next to the water.

Now, on the Upper East Side that means the East River.

And the list of parking streets that she flashes in the video ( once freeze-framed and enlarged ) revealed that the crew was parking all around the south end of Carl Schurz Park.

So first I looked at maps of the Upper East Side to check on the riverside parks in the area. The only obvious one was Carl Schurz Park, and it was right on the water.

Fortunately, they had StreetView inside the park, so I was able to take a good look and compare it to the video I had just seen of them filming the scene. And I also had 3D aerial views via Google Earth.  Everything matched perfectly: the curved wrought-iron fence, the textured walkway, etc.

So then it was just a matter of waiting until that park scene showed up in Episode 7, so I could describe it here.

( Thanks,  Pam!
