Dexter: Resurrection Filming Locations: Dexter talks to Harrison in a Casual Restaurant
The Location: Dexter talks to Harrison in a Casual Restaurant
Q.
What is it supposed to be on the show?
A. A casual restaurant / diner.
Q.
Where is it supposed to be on the show?
A. In New York City.
Q. When did we see it on the show?
A. In Episode 6 of Season One of Resurrection.
Harrison joins Dexter at a diner, where he
tells Dexter about his run-in with Elsa's loutish landlord, Vinny,
during which Harrison fantasized about sticking a fork in his eye. He is
understandably worried that he may be heading in the same direction as
his serial killer father.
Dexter reassures him that it was just anger, coupled with a
sense of justice, and tells him that the fact that he didn't act on the violent
impulse is proof of that. He compares Harrison to Deb, whom he says also
had strong streak of justice, along with a temper, and who made plenty
of mistakes.
Q. What is it actually in real life?
A. A casual restaurant / diner.
Q.
Where can I find it in real life?
A. This is a place called Cozy Soup 'n' Burger, located at 739 Broadway, in New York'sGreenwich Village.
( The neon sign outside appears to simply read Soup 'n' Burger,
but in a small square to the left of those main words, in smaller
print, there are the words The Famous Cozy, which I suppose
helps differentiate them from a similarly-named establishment in
Brooklyn. )
That's on the west side of Broadway, south of E 8th St.
It's about half a mile east of another cafe where they shot a scene with Dexter and Harrison: The Washington Square Diner .
It's also just one block east of the Lafayette Street locations where Dexter & Mia were walking in the city.
A. Early on, I found this collection of paparazzi photos Michael C. Hall & Jack Alcott filming a scene together on April 10, 2025.
The first thing I was able to track down from those photos was the public parking garage seen behind Jack Alcott in two of the photos. That turned out to be at 741 Broadway .
Once knew that, all I had to do was look nearby for that jumble of neon signs
you can see behind Michael C. Hall in two of the photos, and I
foundprecipitate that rather quickly since they were only two doors down
from the parking
garage, in the front window of Soup 'n' Burger.
Then it was just a matter of checking to make certain that was the right restaurant interior. Fortunately, there were plenty of photos online shot inside Soup 'n' Burger.
The restaurant itself made it very easy by literally inscribing their logo in the glass partitions between the booths:
See the glass divider behind Dexter and Harrison?
See the shapes frosted or engraved on the glass?
Look what happens when I use Photoshop to blow-up that part of the image,
flip it horizontally, and darken it to bring out detail:
Yes, that's a bowl of soup 'n' a burger. Right there between Dexter and Harrison.
