Dexter: Resurrection Filming Locations: Harrison with Elsa at a diner.

DEXTER: Resurrection Filming Locations - the actual places where the TV show Dexter: Resurrection was filmed.

The Location
: Harrison with Elsa at a diner

Let's find out

Q. What is it supposed to be on the show?

A. A casual restaurant.

Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?

A.  In New York City.

Q. When did we see it on the show?
A. We see this location in Episode 3 of Season 1 of Resurrection.

Dexter is still following his son, Harrison, around, without letting him know that he survived the near-fatal gunshot back in Iron Lake.

In this scene, he and “Harry.” watch Harrison inside a casual restaurant.  “Harry” urges Dexter to go talk to Harrison, but Dexter is reluctant to do so, fearful of rejection and  of traumatizing the teen.

Just as Dexter is considering going into the diner, Elsa shows up, and Dexter assumes Harrison is on a date.

( Elsa is a young woman who works at the same Empire Hotel as Harrison. )

This scene then cuts to inside the restaurant, as we listen to the conversation between Elsa and Harrison.  It's a brief one, in which he thanks her for coming out, saying that with the police at the hotel and all, he needed to get out. He says he keeps seeing Ryan's face, and she says that's normal, but that Ryan death isn't his fault. Harrison, of course, knows that it is his fault.

Q. What is it actually in real life?

A. A casual restaurant.

Q. Where can I find it in real life?

A. This is the  Washington Square Diner, located at 150 W 4th St, in Greenwich Village, New York

It's just half a block west of Washington Square Park, near the corner of 4th St and 6th Ave.

As far as I can tell, the only changes they made to the interior of the restaurant was to add Venetian blinds to the windows and put a red light behind them.

Here is a matching StreetView of the diner:

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?

A. This was probably the easiest location for me to identify in the entire series. When Dexter is watching Harrison enter the diner at night, we can clearly see the name of the restaurant: “Washington Square Diner” in bright red letters.

So all I had to do was check and make sure that was a real place, get the address, and find a matching StreetView.
