Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?

A. At 8921 Ketterson Street, in Miami.

Q. When did we see it on the show?

A. In Episode 8 - "The Damage a Man Can Do".

When Dexter makes the mistake of sharing his lethal pastime with new "friend" Miguel Prado,
the first victim Prado suggests is Billy Fleeter,
a former linebacker turned violent enforcer, who kills people who don't pay their gambling debts.

After watching Fleeter from a distance at a casino, Dexter & Prado go to Fleeter's house, to find proof that he's guilty, and make sure he qualifies for Dexter's "code".

They watch him leave the small stucco house (through the front door), and then they go around back and break into the house (thanks to Dexter's lock-picking ways).

Once inside, knowing that Fleeter bludgeons people to death, they look for (as Dexter says) "something bludgeony", and find a baseball bat that seems to be a likely weapon.  Dexter tests it with a swab and finds evidence of blood.

They then look for evidence that he's likely to kill again.  Prado states that Fleeter kills when he needs money to pay his own gambling debts, and suggests they look for a ledger. They find a small record book that indicates he is $30,000 in the hole - and hence likely to kill again to pay off the debt.

Convinced they have the right man, they then go shopping at a boating store for the appropriate killing tools.

Then it's back to the casino, where they construct a "killing room" in a storage room, before meeting Fleeter in person at the casino bar. They are about to move on him, when someone recognizes Prado in the bar, and Dexter is forced to call it off.

After an angry confrontation between Dexter & Prado at a pier, and after learning Fleeter killed again, Dexter decides to go through with it.

We see Fleeter enter his house through the front door.  Inside, Prado draws his attention, while Dexter injects him. He wakes up in the killing room at the casino, like all of Dexter's victims, saran-wrapped to a table. Only this time, it's Prado who finishes the victim.

Q. What is it actually in real life?

A. A residential home, but not in Miami.

Q. Where can I find it in real life?

A. The house can be found at 618 W. 40th Street, in San Pedro, CA.

It's at the northeast corner of 40th & South Carolina Streets.  That's way down in the southernmost part of San Pedro, near Angels Gate Park.

They filmed three other scenes in the same immediate area: a major scene of Prado & Dexter meeting at a pier, a short scene at Zack's house, and the scene where Debra rousted the young pimp Javier at his motel.

And in a different part of San Pedro, they also filmed Freebo's house, the Blue Room Bar, Debra's coffee stand, and the park where they find the body of Freebo's girlfriend, Teegan.

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?

A. This should have been easy.  After all, the actual house number (618) is right on the front door.  But the number was a low one and there are countless 618's in greater Los Angeles.

Since they had filmed Freebo's house in San Pedro, that was the first place I looked. But I made the mistake of looking close to Freebo's house itself, which is about two miles north of this location.

It wasn't until later, when I found they had also been filming down around the Cabrillo Pier, that I began to search that area. And once I did, I quickly found both Billy Fleeter's house and Zack's house. For Billy's, it was simply a matter of checking every 618 address in that neighborhood (and it helped that I also knew that the house was on a corner with an open lot to its left).
