This
establishing shot of the real Orange County was first seen on "The
O.C."
in Episode 10
(of season two) - "The Accomplice"
Above,
we are looking southwest, out to sea. In the foreground are the red-tiled
roofs of the community
surrounded by the Pelican Hill golf course, in the coastal Crystal
Cove section of Newport Beach.
The
tree-lined street on the left (east) side of this photo is Pelican Point
Drive.
The smaller street to the right (west) is Shoreline.
Below,
you see the same Newport Beach neighborhood, but much higher up (north).
The curving street
you see in the center of the photo is Pelican Hill Circle, and the
road on the top left is Canyon Terrace.
(The camera is facing the northeast.) Map

Important:
These "establishing shots" of Orange County are not locations
where The O.C. is actually filmed.
The O.C. is not really filmed in Orange County - it is filmed in
Los Angeles County. These "establishing shots"
are brief aerial snapshots of actual Orange County locations, which the
producers drop into the show to add color and
to help create the illusion that we are seeing the real Orange County.
I have included this list of their "establishing shots"
to supplement the main list of actual filming
locations. You can tell the difference by color: the actual filming
location
pages are gold, while the "establishing shot" pages are blue.

locations where The O.C. is actually filmed,
