![]() The Lacrosse Field ![]() Scott McCall, on the sport of Lacrosse: "It's like field hockey, except the sticks have nets." They play a lot of lacrosse at Beacon Hills High School, so one might think that the actual lacrosse field would be located at the same place as the school - in Pacific Palisades. But guess again. ![]() There are several major lacrosse scenes in Episode 3 ("Muted") of the 4th season, where they introduce the new character of Liam Dunbar, who just happens to be a great lacrosse player. He's so good, in fact, that Scott & Stiles assume he must be a werewolf, when they face him on the field, and find themselves outmatched. But he isn't. (At least not yet.) That practice game continues until Liam is injured, when Scott body checks him. While he's off the field, Kira inadvertently makes a great catch in the stands, prompting the coach to eye her as a possible lacrosse recruit. ( The very same lacrosse field turns up in a later episode, in a game again a rival school. ) ![]() They shot those 4th season lacrosse scenes at Woodley Park at 6350 Woodley Ave, in Van Nuys, California. To be more exact, it was shot on the Jean Wong Cricket Field, at the park. There are actually four cricket fields at Woodley Park, which run in a neat row from north to south. The Wong field is the second field down from the north. (Yes, it's somewhat bizarre that a lacrosse game is being staged on a cricket pitch, especially here in the U.S. They had to add chalk lines for the shoot - and them remove them afterward.) Here is a photo of the cricket fields at Woodley Park: ![]() Van Nuys is a neighborhood in L.A.'s San Fernando Valley. Woodley Park is located inside what is known as the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area, a large open area built around a flood control dam. The area contains (in addition to Woodley Park): Balboa Lake, the Japanese Garden (where they filmed Star Trek), two large golf courses, two sports centers, and a miniature golf course. The cricket fields are between the Japanese Garden and Balboa Lake. The area is immediately west of the San Diego (405) Freeway and just north of the Ventura (101) Freeway. Not coincidentally, it's also only about 4 miles southeast of the studio where they film Teen Wolf. (AKA Beacon Hills Hospital). Here is a Google StreetView of the road leading to the fields: Here is an aerial photo. And here is a map link. ![]() |
