Switched at Birth - Filming Locations

So, what about the schools?

Bay's school, "Buckner Hall", is actually Mayfield Senior School of the Holy Child Jesus,
at 500 Bellefontaine Street, in Pasadena, CA. It's a private Catholic prep school
for 300 young women, grades 9-12. (Now that should really upset Regina.)

The building seen above is Strub Hall, which began life as a 1914 residential
home, that was purchased for the Society of the Holy Child order of nuns
by Dr. Charles & Vera Strub in 1950. The home has been transformed
into modern classrooms, computer labs, visual arts studios, etc.

( The Strub's daughter, Elizabeth, a graduate of Mayfield, later became a nun
with the order, and went on to become Prefect of the school from 1962-1966. )

Meanwhile, how about Daphne & Emmett's school, "Carlton School for the Deaf"?

Believe it or not, "Carlton" isn't even a real school.

The scene you see above was shot at a brand new business park called
Valencia Executive Suites, at 25205 Ave Tibbitts, Valencia, CA.

That's just a mile due east of Six Flags Magic Mountain,
and about 3 1/2 miles northwest of Vasquez home.

The particular ("Library") building seen above is at the south/southeast
corner of Ave Hopkins & Ave Tibbitts. The camera is facing west/northwest.

As of 2011, the center was so new that it doesn't even exist on Bing aerial
photos (it just shows up as a dirt lot). On Google StreetView, we see
bulldozers working on the construction. I had to switch to Google aerial
photos to finally find the aerial photo that you'll find from the link below.

( However, records do show that they also filmed something at the nearby Hart High School,
as well as at Westridge School for Girls (in Pasadena), and at Occidental College.
So it's possible that some school scenes were shot at one or more of those locales.
But most of the Carlton outdoor scenes were filmed at this business park. )

And speaking of Emmett (Sean Berdy), where is his house?

You'll find Emmett's residential home at 27046 Island Road, in Valencia.

That's less than a mile east of the Carlton School for the Deaf,
and about four miles northwest of the Vasquez home.

As the name implies, the street is located on a virtual island (surrounded
by a small man-made lake), in an upscale residential neighborhood
known as Bridgeport at Valencia. (See their website here.)

And speaking of Emmett & Bay, where was that giant billboard
where he put up a mural of her "Axe Girl" art - for her birthday?

You'll find that billboard above Ricardo's Auto Upholstry,
at 24347 Main Street (at 8th St), in Newhall (Santa Clarita), CA.

That's just five blocks south of the Vasquez home. From the signs on the
nearby businesses, it appears to be a primarily Hispanic neighborhood.

In the photo above, they are standing on 8th Street, just outside
Ricardo's fenced parking lot, with the camera looking north.

( Ricardo's Upholstry owns the lot, but the building you see right behind
behind the billboard is actually the south side of 24353 Main Street,
which houses Valencia Bicycles. )
