Marvel's Agents of SHIELD - Filming Locations: The Italian Villa

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD

The Southern California locations where Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is filmed.

Near the end of Episode 13 ("T.R.A.C.K.S."),  Skye & Fitz follow the Cybertech agents
(with the mystery  package) from the train to an Italian villa, where they spot
Ian Quinn, the bad guy that they've been hoping to find.

Skye doesn't want Quinn to get away, so even though S.H.I.E.L.D.  backup is
on its way, Skye opts to go in alone and get him.  Bad idea.

While searching the villa for Quinn, Skye discovers that they
have a damaged
Mike Anderson unconscious in a hyperbaric chamber - and she is then captured by Quinn.

It turns out that the mysterious package they were tracking on the train contains a
robotic leg for Anderson (who lost his in an explosion during the bridge swap).

Anderson is acting strangely robotic himself, and appears to be following orders
from the Clairvoyant.  When Quinn tries to get him to shoot Skye, he refuses
because "She's not the one I'm supposed to kill" - and then he leaves.

Alone with Skye, Quinn does the job himself - shooting Skye two times
in the torso, at point-blank range, and then leaving her to die.

This is actually the Villa Sol d'Oro, on the campus of Alverno High School,
at
675 West Highland Avenue, in Sierra Madre, CA.

(The official address of the school is 200 N. Michillinda Ave.)

Sierra Madre is a small, upscale town, located just northeast of Pasadena,
and just north of the Santa Anita racetrack & the L.A. Arboretum.

Villa Sol d'Oro ("House of the Golden Sun") was built as a private mansion in 1924.

The Tuscan-style villa is a two-thirds scale replica of the Villa Collazi near Florence,
which legend says was designed by Michaelangelo.

Alverno High School is a Catholic school for girls, and was built on the grounds
of Villa Sol d'Oro.  Following the death of the villa's original owner, the estate was
gifted to an order of nuns.  The Villa was first used as a convent school, and
then as the high school, before the later campus buildings were added.

Not surprisingly, the Villa is often used for both weddings and Hollywood filming.

Examples include "The Princess Diaries", "Legally Blonde", "Chuck", "True Lies",
"Beverly Hills 90210", "Columbo", "Murder She Wrote" and "A Walk in the Clouds".

( Interestingly enough, "A Walk in the Clouds" also used the train seen in this same episode.)
