Riverdale Filming Locations

Page 3

Watch this 30-second Riverdale intro tour before you continue:

Now, here are all of the locations you just saw in that short video:

(for locations we already covered on Page 1, we'll use
a smaller image plus a link back to that first page.)

0:00:  An aerial view of Riverdale (see page 1)

"Our story is about a town...

0:04: The Road into Riverdale

...a small town...

The road to Riverdale

The camera is looking north up Glover Road,
in Langley, British Columbia, Canada.
from around 9050 Glover Road.

(Almost half of these locations are bunched together on
Glover Road in Fort Langley. It currently has the
highest concentration of Riverdale locations.)

Here is a matching Google StreetView of the street.

0:05: Betty's house (see page 1)

...and the people who live...

0:07: The Riverdale Register

...in the town...

In real life, this is "The Fort Gallery",
at 9048 Glover Road, Langley, B.C.
an art gallery that describes itself on its website
as "a community-based, nonprofit artists collective."

Here is a matching Google StreetView of the shop.

0:09: The Riverdale Train Station

From a distance...

This is the Fort Langley train station (otherwise known as "CN STATION")
and it is now apparently an historical museum. You'll find it at
at 23240 Mavis Ave, in Fort Langley, B.C.

Here is a matching Google StreetView of the train station.

0:10: Pop Tate's Chock'lit Shoppe  (see page 1)

...it presents itself like so many other small towns...

0:13: The Riverdale Cemetery

...all over the world...

Riverdale cemetery

This is actually the Fort Langley Cemetery located at Glover Road and St. Andrew's Place.
(It's in between the comics store and the Riverdale Register, on the west side of Glover Road.)

Here is a matching Google StreetView of the cemetery.

0:15: The Sheriff's Station

...safe, decent...

In this version of Riverdale, the town sheriff is the father of Kevin Keller.
So we'll probably be seeing more of this building.
But in the pilot, we only get this brief glimpse.

In real life, it's the Mission Post Office, and can be found at
33191  1 Avenue, in Mission, British Columbia.

Here is a matching Google StreetView of the building

0:17: The MLJ Comics Store

MLJ is the name of the publishing company that created Archie comics,
so we have something of a Riverdale easter egg there.

In real life, as the purple sign suggests, this is actually the
Euphoria Chocolate & Coffee shop,
at 9103 Glover Road, in Langley, B.C.

Here is a matching Google StreetView of the shop.

0:19: Jughead's Drive-In sign (see page 1)

...Get closer, though...

0:21: Riverdale High School (see page 1)

...and you start seeing the shadows underneath...

0:24: Sweetwater River
...the name of our town is Riverdale."

This isn't actually a river. It's a lake.  In fact, it may be two lakes...

They first filmed at Alice Lake Provincial Park,
in Brackendale / Squamish, British Columbia,
which very much looks the part, complete with forested hillsides
and snow-capped mountains in the background.

It's about 35 miles due north of downtown Vancouver.

Here is a matching Google StreetView of Alice Lake.

But a month later, they also filmed at
Alouette Lake,  in Golden Ears Provincial Park, B.C.
which also shares similar forest and mountain views.
But it also offers rapids, which were briefly seen later in the episode.

It's about 25 miles east of downtown Vancouver.

Here is a matching Google StreetView of Alouette Lake.

The two park areas look so similar, that I can't really tell, from scene to scene,
which one they're using. My guess is that "Sweetwater River" is probably a blend
of the lakes at both parks, But since they shot first at Alice Lake,
I suppose it should get top billing.

Finally, to put things in perspective,
here's a map of every Riverdale filming location:
