Part 1

The actual Southern California locations where
the 2007 movie "
Knocked Up" was filmed.

We first see Alison (Katherine Heigl) at the Brentwood home of her sister Debbie (Leslie Mann)
and her brother-in-law Pete (Paul Rudd). Hollywood often plays with reality, but in this case,
what you see is what you get. That handsome home actually is in Brentwood.

You'll find that house at 531 N. Bristol Avenue, in the Brentwood section of west Los Angeles.
That's on the west side of the street, just south of Rockingham Drive.

(And yes, that's just a few blocks northeast of O.J. Simpson's former Rockingham home.)

WarningThis is a private home. Do not trespass on their property,
knock on their door, or do anything else that might disturb the residents
.

(The home has changed a lot recently, so some older aerial photos on Live Local don't match
it perfectly. But look at it from different directions, and you'll find a more modern view.)

On the other hand, Ben's house (Seth Rogen), where he and his bohemian cohorts smoke
weed and catalog nude scenes in movies,  is located on the other side of the
Santa Monica mountains, in the San Fernando Valley.

You'll find the house at 17800 Community Street, in Northridge, CA.
(Seth Rogen later shot scenes from "Superbad" in the same general area.)

The movie opens with shots of Ben and his gang riding thrill rides at an amusement park.

Those scenes were shot at Knott's Berry Farm (the oldest theme park in America),
which you'll find at
8039 Beach Blvd, in Buena Park (about 7 miles NE of Disneyland).

In the photo above, the guys are experiencing the 254-foot drop on Knott's "Supreme Scream" ride.

In the photo below, the guys are cresting the killer hill on Knott's "Xcellerator" coaster.

Both rides are located in Knott's "Boardwalk" area, in the northwest corner of the park.

And in the photo below, they're above Reflection Lake, riding Knott's "Silver Bullet" coaster,
(which is located between the "Ghost Town" & "Fiesta Village" sections of the park.)

We next see Alison driving with her sister's kids in the car - after she volunteers to
drive them to head off an argument between her sister and her brother-in-law.

If you've ever had the opportunity to drive along Brentwood's San Vicente Boulevard, you'll
recognize that broad center divider full of stately Morton Bay Fig trees, which is often filled
with with joggers out for a morning run. In these shots, you can see the Brentwood
Country Club in the background. It was shot near San Vicente & Carmelina Ave.

( That is less than 400 yards from the home where Marilyn Monroe died -
which is the at east end of 5th Helena Drive, just off Carmelina Ave. )

In the photo above, she is heading east on San Vicente,
while the camera looks west/northwest.

Next, we see Alison at her place of work, which happens to be a TV studio, where we also
see American Idol host Ryan Seacrest. Later, we see Alison get the chance to go
before the camera herself, as an on-air reporter for E-News.

Once again, what you see is what you get (and that is something rare in a movie.)
These scenes actually were shot at the E-Entertainment Television Studio.

You'll find that studio at 5750 Wilshire Boulevard. That's on the south side of Wilshire,
just east of Curson Avenue, right across the street form the famous La Brea Tar Pits,
in the Fairfax / Hancock Park section of Los Angeles.

The producers pull their first location trick when we come to the night club where
Alison & Ben (Seth Rogen) meet, get drunk and hook up (with unfortunate results).

The shot of the outside of the club (seen in the photo above) is a real club
named "Element", which is located at 1642 Las Palmas Ave, in Hollywood.
It's on the east side of Las Palmas, just 70 yards south of Hollywood Blvd.

( The camera is looking south. The church you see at the end of the street is the
First Baptist Church, which is at the south end of Las Palmas & Selma Ave. )

However, when they go inside the club, all of a sudden, we've changed locations.
And surprisingly, it isn't a set on a studio sound stage. They shot the interior scenes
in another actual night club. Just not same one (Element) they used for the exterior.

Even more surprising is that second (interior) club is located just a short away from
of the first (exterior) club. It's name is "Mood", and you'll find it just one block to
northeast of Element, at 6623 Hollywood Blvd, in Hollywood. That's on the
north side of Hollywood Blvd, just east of Hollywood Blvd & Cherokee Ave,.

(Just east of the famous Musso & Frank, Hollywood's oldest restaurant.)

That's right, the club where Ben picks up Alison was actually two different clubs:
Element for the exterior shots and Mood for the interior shots.

(That's as of late 2007, of course. The way things are in Hollywood, both clubs
could be gone or undergo a name change in a relatively short period of time.)
