The actual places in Los Angeles where "Fear the Walking Dead" is filmed. 0:00:01: The first episode of "Fear the Walking Dead" opens with a young addict named 'Nick Clark' (Frank Dillane), waking up in the choir loft of an abandoned church.  He calls out the name "Gloria", but gets no response. Heading downstairs, he eventually finds Gloria: who is now a zombie and is eating the face of some guy she has just killed. This church is actually the former Bethany Presbyterian Church (more recently known as the Korean Pilgrim Church),  at 1629 Griffith Park Blvd, in Los Angeles. Built in 1931, you'll find it at the corner Griffith Park Blvd & Lucille Ave, in the Silver Lake area, about three miles northwest of downtown L.A. Currently, efforts are underway to turn the old church into a restaurant & hotel. Here is a Google StreetView of the church. 0:03:46: After zombie-Gloria tries to attack him, Nick flees for his life, running out of the church, and down the middle of the street. But his luck doesn't improve much, as he is struck by a car, and injured, while still standing in the street. In the screencap above, Nick is running southeast on Griffith Park Blvd, with the camera looking northwest, back towards the church. ( The set decorators made the church exterior look dirty & decrepit, which it isn't in real life. ) And here is a matching  Google StreetView of that street. 0:04:29: As Nick lies injured in the street, and a crowd gathers around him, the camera  pans up  to show a busy farmers market in the city square, letting us know that  civilization is still very much alive and normal -- despite that one zombie attack. The full-scale zombie apocalypse seen in the original "Walking Dead", is only just beginning in this new prequel series. This unusual public square, with the yellow-polka-dot street, (seen above) is real - and it's known as Sunset Triangle Plaza. It comprises a short stretch of Griffith Park Blvd, between Edgecliffe Drive & Sunset Boulevard. (In the screencap above, the camera is looking south down Griffith Park Blvd, from the corner of Griffith Park & Edgecliffe Drive.) Not long ago, this was just part of Griffith Park Blvd. But in 2012, they  blocked off (to traffic) the short portion between Edgecliffe & Sunset Blvd, and turned it into this unusual urban pedestrian space. And here is a matching  Google StreetView of the plaza.     0:06:25: After Nick's family finds out that he is in the hospital, we see them arrive there. The family is led by Nick's mother, 'Madison (or 'Maddie') Clark' (Kim Dickens), and includes his sister, 'Alicia Clark' (Alycia Debnam-Carey), and his mother's new live-in boyfriend, 'Travis Manawa' (Cliff Curtis). Given Nick's history, they assume he's delusional and the incident is drug-related. Nick has convinced himself of the same thing. This was shot at Temple Community Hospital, at 235 N. Hoover Street, Los Angeles. The former hospital is located near the Hollywood (101) Freeway, about a mile northwest of MacArthur Park, and three miles northwest of downtown L.A. Opened in 1937, Temple Community was forced to close in 2014, due to low revenue and the pending expense of having to retrofit its aging building for earthquakes. Here is a Google StreetView of the hospital.     0:09:26:  We see Travis (Cliff Curtis) standing outside on a hospital balcony, talking on the phone to his ex-wife, as he walks towards a stairway.   This is still the Temple Community Hospital.  In the screenshot above, the camera  is looking south/southeast, towards downtown L.A.  In this shot, we see the north/NW-facing side of the hospital. The house seen on the lower left side of the screenshot, with the reddish roof (behind the palm tree) is 238 N. Hoover Street.  Here is a Google StreetView of that same stairway, as seen looking up from Hoover Street. Later, at 28:09, we see the family leave the hospital and head back to the parking lot, while discussing what the mother considers Nick's drug-induced delusions. In the screencap above, the camera is looking east/northeast, towards the south-facing side of the hospital. This small parking lot is on the west/southwest side of the hospital, and it was originally reserved for doctors' parking. Here is a Google StreetView of the hospital.     0:12:54: We see the mother drive her daughter, Alicia, to school. A sign reads: "Paul. R. Williams High School" (but don't believe it). It turns out that Maddie works at her daughter's high school, as a guidance counselor. She encounters a boy trying to smuggle a knife into school.  When she asks him why, it's clear to us (but not to her) that he knows that the zombie apocalypse is about to begin. Despite the fake sign, this is really Woodrow Wilson High, at 4500 Multnomah Street, in the El Sereno section of East L.A., at the far east edge of the city. Although Wilson High began in 1937, it only moved onto this campus in 1970. And although there is a fake sign reading "Broncos" in the screencap above, the school's team is actually called "The Mighty Mules". Here is a matching  Google StreetView of the school     0:16:41: We see Alicia walking past a group of male students who are painting a mural on the side of a wall.  Her boyfriend, Matt (Maestro Harrell), complains  about it being a "paint by the numbers" assignment. Not surprisingly, we are still at Wilson High. This wall faces east/northeast, on a small building on the west/southwest end  of the football bleachers.  It's probably a restroom or perhaps a locker room, but whatever it is, it and the bleachers are located behind (south/SE of) the main school buildings that we saw earlier.     30:02: Back at the high school, we see Alicia up in a bank of lights with her boyfriend, Matt. These lights are real.  You'll find them at the top (of the back) of main school building (the one we saw when the family's car first pulled into the school), just under the rim-roof edging, above the two blue Wilson High Mules mural/paintings (see below).  The lights face south/southwest.     0:37:54: Nick manges to escape from the hospital, when his roommate goes "Code Blue" (probably a prelude to him going zombie, based on the doctor's concern). Nick uses the hectic moment to steal the dead man's clothing (something he may or may not regret later) and uses it to walk out of the hospital. In this scene, we see him walking away from the hospital. In the screencap above, he is walking east on the 3400 block of Council Street (towards Hoover Street). (The  apartment building he passes fronts 165 N. Hoover Street.) And here is a matching  Google StreetView. At 37:56, he turns south onto the 200 block of Hoover Street. The house seen in the screencap below is at 204 N. Hoover Street. And here is a matching  Google StreetView of that street.     0:30:05: Maddie & Travis learn that Nick has left the hospital, so they go looking for him. We see them first driving next to a large park: This is Lincoln Park, at 3529 N. Mission Road, in East L.A. In the screencap above, they are driving north/northeast on Mission Road, just before it reaches Selig Place. Here is a matching  Google StreetView of the park view. At 38:53, in the screencap below, they are seen driving east past a red tile-roofed strip mall. It is at the corner of Selig Place & Mission Road. Here is a matching  Google StreetView of that strip mall.     0:42:16: Still trying to find her son, Maddie & Travis to the home of one of Nick's friends, Calvin (Keith Powers). This is 149 S.
