Episode 6 (of Season 2):  “You Say You Want an Evolution”

0:25:41: We see a sports car driving along a twisting mountain road at night:

This was shot on Angels Point Road, winding its way through Elysian Park,
in the hills above Dodger Stadium, just before it reaches the Angels Point Outlook.

Here is a matching Google StreetView of that winding road.

The car pulls over at an outlook and parks.

Inside are Molly and detective JD Richter.  He tells her that "This is the highest
point within a 50-mile radius", and they broadcast a message to her alien offspring.

While there, he changes the dressing on her side wound, which has become infected:

This is the Angels Point overlook.

Or to be more accurate, it's the spot on Angels Point Road which runs right
above the actual Angels Point
(which is a spot about 30 feet below the road).

(They seem to have added the streetlights, since there are none there in real life.)

This hilltop overlook is about two miles north of the downtown L.A. skyline.
It is just above (and southwest of) the L.A. Police Academy.
And it's above (and about half a mile northwest of) Dodger Stadium.

Its GPS coordinates are approximately:  34.081362, -118.245201

Despite what JD tells us, this not "the highest point within 50 miles".

It's elevation of 680 feet, pales compared to the Griffith Park Observatory's
1,120' elevation, or the even higher Hollywood Sign's peak, at 1,600 feet.

But compared to downtown L.A.'s low 280' elevation, Angels Peak is
high enough to allow for a very nice aerial view of the downtown skyline.

Here is a Google Earth view of the spot and the twisting road.

Here is a Google StreetView of the location.

Episode 7
(of Season 2):  “The Other”

0:54:55 into this double-episode (or about 11:30 into the 7th episode): We see Molly & JD Richter
drive into the alien encampment, and discover that it's not just her son that they have found, but
an entire alien village, filled with dozens, perhaps hundreds of people.

Her alien son tries to convince Molly that they have changed their ways, evolved,
and that they regret having accidentally killed humans in the past.  But at
least one of them remains openly hostile to any reconciliation.

Molly tells them about the alien-killing virus that is about to be released, and as they
are preparing to evacuate, the android Lucy (and her new companion) find the village,
abduct a young alien man, and notify the military that the refuge has been located.

These alien camp scenes were shot at 302 E. Carlisle Road, in Thousand Oaks, CA.

But that alone is somewhat deceptive.  This home lies on a huge, 90+ acre lot
in the Santa Monica Mountains,
five miles inland (north) of the Malibu coastline,
and about 40 miles northwest of downtown L.A.

As such, the actual spot on the property where they filmed can be hard
to pinpoint, if you don't know just where to look.

At first, I had assumed that those odd, silver, pyramid-shaped buildings
had been built by the crew as a temporary set for the show.

But as I looked at aerial photos of the property, I was somewhat shocked to
discover that they are real - and appear to be a permanent part of the property.

Here is a Google Earth aerial view of those structures.

The GPS coordinates are: 34.113634, -118.871141

When Molly's SUV first drives into the camp, across a small footbridge
(as seen in the screencaps above), they are headed southwest.

And that spot is over half a mile southeast of Carlisle Road,
and accessed only via a gated, private road on the property.

[ Warning: This is private property.  Do not trespass on their property,
knock on their doors, or do anything else to disturb the residents. ]
