The
Actual Southern California Locations where the
At the start of the film, Ali (Christina) is working at Dwight's Bar. It's supposed to be in Iowa, but naturally, it's really in Southern California. Where? At 3951 E. Center Street,
in Piru, CA, Where the heck is Piru? It's
is a tiny town located about 50 miles north of Los Angeles, Piru was also used recently for two locations from the TV show "True Blood". (Here's a matching Google StreetView
panorama of the corner.)
The steel bridge she walks across, as she leaves town, is also in Piru. It is an old abandoned Union
Pacific Railroad bridge that spans Piru Creek,
just north of 4040 Center Street. Built in 1902, the "typical
steel through-truss, two span bridge" is 320 feet long and has been (Here's a matching Google StreetView panorama of the bridge.)
The scene above, where Ali
is driving at night with Marcus (heading
towards a party), was shot In the photo above, their car is heading east on Sunset Boulevard, towards Mel's Drive-In, at 8585 W. Sunset. In the photo below,

Marcus's mansion is an actual home, located at 822 Sarbonne Road, Bel Air, in the hills above UCLA. According to this former
real estate listing, the house is 7,479 square feet, with nine bathrooms,
