The Grand Ballroom
  at Hollywood & Highland

An artist sketch of the red carpet walkway celebrities
will take when they arrive on Oscar Night at the new
Hollywood & Highland project in Hollywood, California.

The path will lead from the arrival point on Hollywood Blvd,
through the new center, to the Kodak Theatre, the
new permanent home of the Academy Awards show.
It will pass beneath a ballroom which will be used for
the annual Governor's Ball following the awards show.

We are looking northwest as the arriving stars walk north.

Every year following the Academy Awards telecast, celebrities attend the Academy's Board of Governors Ball.

Since the Oscar Night broadcast now has a permanent home at the Kodak Theatre in the Hollywood & Highland center, it's fitting that the Governor's Ball will also have a permanent home right next door.

When celebrities step out of their limos and walk the red carpet to the Kodak Theatre, they will pass right beneath the new Grand Ballroom [see the picture to the left].

The rooftop ballroom & catering hall will feature outdoor balconies which will offer sweeping views of Hollywood Boulevard, the Hollywood hills and the L.A. skyline. Superstar chef Wolfgang Puck will be in charge of the kitchen.

The room will be designed with a 1920's Art Deco look inspired by the landmark Bullocks Wilshire building (which opened in 1929, the year the Oscars were born).

Like the Kodak Theatre, the ballroom has been custom designed to host the Governor's Ball and similar events. Normally, event planners have to try to adapt their decor to the room, but when they built this new ballroom, they consulted with event planners and built the room around their needs, making the architecture itself flexible enough to adapt to the various events planned for the venue.

They expect that Hollywood & HIghland, and the ballroom in particular, will be host to some of Hollywood's biggest parties and celebrations.

Hollywood & Highland is a project of TrizecHahn.
