Dexter Filming Locations: Travis in Trunk

DEXTER Filming Locations - hundreds of actual places where the TV show Dexter was filmed.

The location: Travis in Trunk

Q. What is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. A carport.

Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?

Q. When did we see it on the show?

    A. In Episode 12, the Season 6 finale: "This is the Way the World Ends"

In this brief scene, following the rooftop confrontation with Travis, we see Dexter pull into his garage/carport, get out of his car, and open the car's trunk.

Inside, we see an unconscious Travis, gagged and hidden below a carpet.  Dexter gives him another injection to keep him unconscious.

Then Dexter unstraps his young son (Harrison) from his car seat and goes inside his apartment, where he meets up with the nanny, Jamie.

Q. What is it actually in real life?

    A. A carport.

Q. Where can I find it in real life?

    A. This is actually the carport at 1328 Gordon Street, in Hollywood, right across from the Sunset-Gower studio where they film Dexter.

This is the same place where (in Season 5) they filmed a scene of Dexter saying goodbye to his Irish nanny and Harrison.

It's part of a pair of twin apartment houses. It's twin next door (at 1332) was seen in Season 3 as Anton's Apartment.
The carport is in the rear (to the east).

It's on the same block as Travis's apartment, his sister Lisa's house, and the spot where Dexter earlier let Travis go.
It's also very near the donut shop.

Elsewhere on Gordon Street, in prior seasons, they shot Boyd Fowler's House, Mario's House (the Skinner's assistant), Teegan's House, the Supposedly Empty House, Christine's Apartment House, and Doakes' Apartment House.

I shot this photo back in 2009:

[ Warning: These are private apartments.  Do not knock on their doors, trespass on their property,
or do anything else that might disturb the residents. ]

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?

    A.  In previous seasons, I've usually had to hunt down the locations after viewing the episodes, using clues from the various scenes.  By the 6th season, though, I'd developed a small group of fans, spies & tipsters who kept an eye out for Dexter filming in their neighborhoods, and would let me know in advance when something was about to film there.

Between those reports, my own personal reconnaissance around town, and a few new resources I discovered, by the time the first episode aired, I already knew most (but not all) of the filming locations, and only needed to watch the episodes and match up the scenes with the correct locations.

This group of helpful fans includes Kerry, Rick, Ellen, Susan, Jason, Elaine, Joel, Julie, Geoff, Jeff, Jen, and others. My thanks to all of them.

This tip came from Rick.  (Thanks, Rick!)
