Dexter Filming Locations: Quinn Speeding to the Dorseys house

DEXTER Filming Locations - hundreds of actual places where the TV show Dexter was filmed.

The location: Quinn Speeding.

Q. What is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. A city street..

Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. In Miami.

Q. When did we see it on the show?

    A. In Episode 11, of Season 6, "Talk to the Hand".

Quinn's partner, Angel, went to Steve Dorsey's apartment to check up on a video Steve had left on Gellar's website.

Quinn was supposed to go along, but he wasn't answering Angel's phone calls, so Angel went in alone.

That was a mistake.  While he was questioning Dorsey's wife, Beth, Travis knocked him out with a crucifix and tied him up.

In this brief scene, Quinn is driving in his car when he gets a call from Debra.

She tells him that Angel went to check Dorsey's house, and that they are concerned about him because Steve Dorsey turned up dead on the Ricochet Rabbit.

Debra wants to know why Quinn isn't there backing up his partner.

Quinn realizes that he (and Angel) are in hot water. He hangs a U-turn and speeds towards Dorsey's house.

Q. What is it actually in real life?

    A. A city street - but nowhere near Miami.

Q. Where can I find it in real life?

A. This scene was shot on Seaside Way, in Long Beach, CA.

Seaside Way is a somewhat obscure Long Beach street, located just below (south of) busy Ocean Blvd, and just above Shoreline Drive.  It runs east/west from The Pike (shopping/dining center) to Linden Drive.

To be more specific, this scene was shot on Seaside Way between the Long Beach Convention Center (on the west) and Shoreline Drive (on the east).

Quinn is driving west on Seaside in the early part of the scene, when he gets the call from Deb.  He then hangs the U-turn at Linden Avenue, and speeds back east on Seaside.

I shot the photo below in 2009:
(The camera is looking east, down Seaside Way.)

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?

    A.  I drove past the Convention Center on the day they were filming the museum square scene of Dexter and the angel statue (for Episode 11), but I couldn't see any filming activity from Pine Avenue.

However, when I got to the corner of Pine & Seaside Way, and looked east, I noted that they had shut down the street for filming.  So I just waited for the episode to air, so I could find out what they had shot on the street.

Naturally, I recognized Seaside Way when it showed up (in the Quinn scene), since I'd spent time there earlier this year shooting photos of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse filming.
