The location: Lumen's Motel |
Q. Where can I find it in real life? A. They changed the motel's address, but not its name. In real life, this really is called the Town House Motel. But it's full name is the Hollywood Town House Motel, and instead of 7th Street in Miami, you'll find it at 6055 W. Sunset Blvd, in Hollywood, CA. That's almost across the street from the Sunset-Gower studio, where they film Dexter. This is the exact same motel used in Season 3 as the hooker motel where Angel goes to talk to Detective Barbara Gianna while she's working vice. Although the motel's front office faces Sunset, we first see its parking lot, on the west side of La Baig Ave, just north of Sunset Blvd. Then Dexter walks south from his car to the office. It's right around the corner from another location, the home of Wendell Owens (from Season 3), and the street where Trinity walked the dog (from Season 4). It's also a few blocks northwest
of Ramon Prado's house. Here is a photo of the motel, which I shot in 2009: Here is an aerial
photo of the motel. And here is a map
link. Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was? A. This
was an easy one. I already did a page about
this location. It's the same motel where Angel talked to Detective
Gianna, while she was working vice (back in Season 3). So I recognized it immediately.
