DEXTER Filming Locations - hundreds of actual places where the TV show Dexter was filmed.


The location: Jordan Chase's Airport
Q. What is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. An airport.


Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?

    A. Somewhere in Miami.


Q. When did we see it on the show?

    A. In Episode 11, of Season 5, "Hop a Freighter".

    The police are closing in on Jordan Chase, so Debra heads to the airport to stop his private jet from taking off.

    In this short scene, we see cop cars arrive and surround the jet, which is sitting on the tarmac. It's emblazoned with "Jordan Chase Enterprises" on the side.

    The pilot comes out and Debra tells him that she has a court order that prevents Chase from leaving Miami.

    The pilot tells her that they were scheduled to fly out of the city over an hour ago, but Chase never showed up.

    Debra looks a bit stumped, and walks away.


Q. What is it actually in real life?

    A. An airport - just not in Miami.


Q. Where can I find it in real life?

    A. This was shot at the Long Beach Airport, at 4100 E. Donald Douglas Drive, in Long Beach.

    But in real-life terms, the airport is located west of Lakewood Blvd, at Wardlow Road, just north of the San Diego (405) Freeway.



    And the hanger glimpsed in the background is on the south side of the airport, just north of Temple & Spring. The camera is looking southeast in that hanger shot.

    It's about a mile northwest of the old "Dexter Neighborhood" where Rita originally lived, and not much farther to the place where Liddy abducts Dexter.

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?

    A.  I had more than one source on this one. Jeff emailed me from the abduction filming to say he had heard they would later be filming at the airport. Rick let me know about it as well. And Press-Telegram columnist Tim Grobaty wrote in his column that they were filming Dexter at the airport. Then, after the episode aired, I used Bing aerial photos to pinpoint the exact hanger.  (Thanks Jeff, Tim & Rick!)
