Q.
Where is it supposed to be on the show?
Q.
When did we see it on the show?
A. In Episode 8, of Season 6, "Sin of Omission".
When Angel
seems to disapprove of his younger sister's date, Jamie invites him
along on her date with Louis - the new lab tech and computer geek.
We see the three of them in an exotic restaurant, with Angel, Jamie & Louis sharing a booth.
As Louis
tries to make pleasant conversation about cars, it's clear that Angel
isn't giving him a chance. He simply glares at him in anger.
And when Jamie gets up to use the ladies' room, Angel tells Louis that Jamie is too young to get involved with anyone.
He then
leans back to reveal the gun in his shoulder holster, and makes a
not-very-subtle threat about not wanting to see Louis get hurt.
Later, back at the police station, we see Louie delete a text from Jamie. Clearly, Angel's threat shook him up.
Q.
What is it actually in real life?
Q.
Where can I find it in real life?
A. This is the Electric Lotus, located at
1870 N. Vermont Ave, in the Los Feliz section of Los Angeles.
That just south of Franklin Ave, and is just a few steps north of the restaurant where they filmed the scene of Dexter talking to Travis in the diner, and a few blocks north of the strip club (where Quinn went with Masuka)..
The restaurant has its own website at www.electriclotus.com.

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?
A. In previous seasons, I've
usually had to hunt down the locations after viewing the episodes,
using clues from the various scenes. By the 6th season, though,
I'd developed a small group of fans, spies & tipsters who kept an
eye out for Dexter filming in their neighborhoods, and would let me know
in advance when something was about to film there.
Between those reports, my own personal reconnaissance around town, and a
few new resources I discovered, by the time the first episode aired, I
already knew most (but not all) of the filming locations, and only
needed to watch the episodes and match up the scenes with the correct
locations.
This group of helpful fans includes Kerry, Rick, Ellen, Susan, Jason,
Elaine, Joel, Julie, Geoff, Jeff, Jen, and others. My thanks to all of
them.
This tip came from Rick.
And I was able to verify it fairly easily by simply Googling for images
of the Electric Lotus, which turned up photos matching the exotic
interior seen on Dexter. For instance, the mural seen in the photo
above is visible at the start of the scene, as the camera pans the
restaurant. (Thanks, Rick!)
