Holly Benson is the woman that Travis & Gellar abducted, to sacrifice as "The Whore of Babylon".
Later, however, Travis had second thoughts and set her free.
But after
Dexter exposed the fact that Gellar was nothing more than an illusion in
Travis's sick mind, Travis was determined to kick-start his Doomsday
mission with a vengeance.
Dexter
assumed that Travis would go after Holly Benson again, to make up for
his mistake of letting her go. (And he was right.)
Dexter knows he has to reach her before Travis does.
So, in this
brief scene, Dexter goes to her apartment and picks the lock.
She isn't there. And it looks as if she has packed a bag and gone into hiding somewhere
So Dexter looks for
clues to here whereabouts. He finds photos of her with her older boyfriend, Peter
Grant.
He also finds Grant's name & address on the mailing label of a magazine in her apartment.
A. This apartment house is located at
1912 E. 2nd Street, in Long Beach, CA.
It's on the south side of the
street, just two blocks inland from the Ocean Blvd condo tower where
they filmed the earlier scene of the dead call girl in the hotel room.
It's about midway between Shoreline Village (where they filmed the scene of Travis & Gellar at a nightclub, and other scenes) and the Belmont Pier (where they filmed the snakes-in-victim scene).
I shot the photo below in September 2011.
[Warning: These are private apartments. Do not trespass on their property,
knock on their doors, or do anything else that might disturb the residents.]
A. In previous seasons, I've
usually had to hunt down the locations after viewing the episodes,
using clues from the various scenes. By the 6th season, though,
I'd developed a small group of fans, spies & tipsters who kept an
eye out for Dexter filming in their neighborhoods, and would let me know
in advance when something was about to film there.
Between those reports, my own personal reconnaissance around town, and a
few new resources I discovered, by the time the first episode aired, I
already knew most (but not all) of the filming locations, and only
needed to watch the episodes and match up the scenes with the correct
locations.
This group of helpful fans includes Kerry, Rick, Ellen, Susan, Jason,
Elaine, Joel, Julie, Geoff, Jeff, Jen, and others. My thanks to all of
them.
This time, I got an email from a new fan, Matt M, saying he had seen them filming there. (Thanks, Matt!)
