Dexter Filming Locations: Funeral Photos

The location: Miami Print-N-Go

Q. What is it supposed to be on the show?

A. A Print 'n' Go copy shop.

Q. Where is it supposed to be on the show?

A. Somewhere in Miami.

Q. When did we see it on the show?

A. In Episode 1, of Season 5, "My Bad".

With Rita's funeral coming up, and Dexter still missing, we see Debra coming out of a shop, carrying huge photos of Rita and her family.

As she juggles them to her car, she gets a cell phone call from LaGuerta, who tells Debra that Dexter didn't show up for his FBI interview.

She tells LaGuerta that she's on her way to meet Dex, but when she gets back to their apartment, she finds him gone, and a neighbor from downstairs feeding baby Harrison.

Q. What is it actually in real life?

A. A small strip mall.

Q. Where can I find it in real life?

A. This scene was shot at a strip mall right across the street from (south of) of the Sunset-Gower studio (where they film Dexter), at the northwest corner of Fountain Ave & Gordon St, in Hollywood.

They painted the ""Print-N-Go" logo on the west end of the strip mall (which houses an upholstery store, in real life) at 6104 Fountain Ave. The camera was looking east.

They have used this same strip mall several times before. The first time I saw it, it was posing as "The Swamp" bar (where Dexter watched the man who killed his mother walk out).

Other instances saw it impersonating the tailor shop (where Dexter picked up his wedding tux, right before getting abducted by the Skinner).

It was also where we saw Nikki read a newspaper headline in Season 4.

And it was briefly glimpsed behind Trinity when he was loading supplies into his car's trunk.

It's also close to several other Dexter locations, including the cafe where Dexter & Rita had their first date, Teegan's house, Wendell Owens' house, the hooker motel, and the street where Trinity walked the dog.

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?

A. I couldn't miss this strip mall. I originally searched for a long time to find it when it first appeared as "The Swamp", and since then, I've easily spotted it whenever it surfaced again on the show. Plus, that diamond-shaped Rose Upholstry logo is clearly visible in the scene.
