What is it supposed to be on the show?
Where is it supposed to be on the show?
A. In Pinecrest, Florida (about 15 miles south of Miami).
When did we see it on the show?
A. "The Fox Hole Gentleman's Club" is a regular location this season.
It first appears in Episode 1, of Season 7, "Are You...?".
We hear it mentioned at the Mike Anderson murder scene,
when Dexter fingerprints the dead woman in the car trunk and determines
that she was a Ukrainian immigrant (named Kaja Soroka) who worked as a
stripper at the Fox Hole.
the station, Angel reports that the owner of the Fox Hole also owns
five other strip clubs in Miami. Quinn says that when he was with
narcotics, they looked into it, figuring they were using the clubs to
launder money, but that the investigation never went anywhere.
We first see the club when Angel & Quinn raid the Fox Hole to find out what happened to Kaja Soroka.
speaks with the manager, George Navakov, who tells him that the girls
come to the club from rural villages in the Ukraine, hoping to land a
rich American husband, but often wind up over their heads.
Angel tells Debra that they didn't find out much, only that Kaja signed
in for work at the club on the day she was killed, but didn't sign out.
They also found blood in the parking lot that they think is hers. But
all of the bar employees are refusing to tell them anything.
we see George Navakov at the club as he phones a rich man in Kiev named Issak.
tells Issak that Victor in on a plane to Kiev (not knowing that Dexter
has headed him off at the airport).
What is it actually in real life?
Where can I find it in real life?
A. The exterior of the "Fox Hole" is actually the south side of a building that houses "Tru", a nightclub at 1600 Argyle Ave (At Selma), in Hollywood.
It's just two blocks
northwest of the Sunset-Gower studio where they film Dexter.
The actual entrance to Tru is on the west side of the building, facing
Argyle, while the Fox Hole entrance on the show was created on the south side of the same building, complete with a fake neon sign and a canopy entrance.
But despite using this club's exterior a lot during the season, they didn't use the club's interior for
the Fox Holes scenes. Instead, they built a Fox Hole set at the
studio, which is where all of the interior scenes were filmed.
Here is an aerial
photo of the location. Here is a Google StreetView.

Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?
A. In the early seasons, I usually had to hunt down the locations after viewing the episodes,
using clues from the various scenes. By the now, though,
I've developed a small group of fans, spies & tipsters who kept an
eye out for Dexter filming in their neighborhoods, and would let me know
in advance when something was about to film there.
Between those reports, my own personal reconnaissance around town, and a
few new resources I discovered, by the time the first episode airs, I
already know most (but not all) of the filming locations, and only
need to watch the episodes and match up the scenes with the correct
This group of helpful fans includes Rick, Ellen, Elaine, Mia, Joel, Susan, Eric, Jeff, Kerry & others. My thanks to all of
This tip came from Rick, who also sent me some great photos he shot of the club during filming. (Thanks Rick!)
