The
location: Angel Driving Firebird Trans Am |
As Angel revs his engine, Dexter's voiceover says "We all want life to have some kind of meaning. It seems like the older we get, the harder we look for it."
Q. What is it actually in real life? A. A public street.
Q. Where can I find it in real life? A. This brief scene was shot on the 5900 block of Fountain Avenue, just east of Gordon Street, in Hollywood, CA. The camera is looking east up Fountain, while Angel drives west on the street. (That glowing building at the end of the street is Le Conte Middle School.) It's right next to the Sunset-Gower Studio where Dexter is filmed. And it's near a great many previous locations, ranging from Doakes' apartment in Season One to Nick's house in this season 6.
Here is a matching Google StreetView of the street:
Here is an aerial
photo of the street. Here is a Google StreetView. Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was? A. Since this was a very generic scene, any street would do. So I figured they would stay close to the studio.
I used Google StreetView to check the local streets, looking for that
triangular "Yield" sign on the left, and that odd glowing building at
the end of the street (which turned out to be, surprisingly, a junior
high school). I found it rather quickly, right next to the studio.
