Q.
What is it supposed to be on the show?
A. A storefront emporium, where a back room serves as a meeting place for a coven of modern witches.
Q.
Where is it supposed to be on the show?
A.
In Bon Temps, Louisiana.
Q.
When did we see it on the show?
A.
In Episode 1, of Season 4, "She's Not There".
Lafayette's boyfriend, Jesus, takes him to meet a coven of supposed witches.
A sign outside the nondescript, brick storefront reads "Moongoddess Emporium".
It appears to be a store dealing in occult items.
Lafayette
clearly wants nothing to do with it. And when he sees the circle
of seemingly ordinary folks having what looks like a seance, it's also
clear that he doesn't believe for a moment that they have any
supernatural powers.
But
then the lead witch channels the spirit of the Eddie, the vampire that
Lafayette helped kill. Lafayette assumes Jesus put them up to it,
and he storms out of the store.
He
returns later, and is talked into holding hands in the circle, and is
shocked when the lead witch brings a dead parrot back to life (for a
moment).
We
see the place again in the second episode. It turns out that the
new King of Louisiana, Bill, has planted a spy in the coven, and he
knows about them resurrecting the dead bird.
He
tells Eric that necromancy is a threat to all vampires, since if the
witches can control the dead, they can control them. He sends
Eric to put an end to the group.

The
location: The Moongoddess Emporium

Eric
enters the back room, and gives them an ultimatum: Stop meeting or else. When the
lead witch defies him, Eric starts to kill her. Tara attempts to defend
her, but is also seized by Eric. The group then quickly joins hands, chants,
and casts a spell on Eric, who stumbles out of the store in a haze.
Q.
What is it actually, in real life?
Q.
Where can I find it in real life?
A.
This brick building actually holds a
costume shop that was once called (appropriately enough) as "Dracula's
Castle", and was last known as "Francisco's Halloween Shop". It might have been vacant when they shot this scene.
You'll find it 15834 E. Main Street, in the old downtown section of La Puente, CA.
( The name of the shop might be a tip-of-the-hat to the movie "Halloween
H20", which was filmed in the exact same neighborhood of La Puente. )
The shop is located on the southeast corner of Main and 1st Street.
The city of La Puente is located in out in East L.A., about 15 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.
Here
is an aerial
photo of the storefront (looking south). And here is a map
link.
And here is a Google StreetView panorama of the shop.

Q.
How the heck did you figure out where it was?
A.
I had been told that they were filming somewhere
in La Puente back on January 7th. So, when the new episodes
started airing, I kept an eye out for that neighborhood. Since I was familiar
with the town from "Halloween H20", I recognized the street when I saw
it on the very first episode of Season 4, of True Blood.
