Seeing Stars: Live on Stage

12700 Center Court Drive, Cerritos, CA.
(in the Cerritos Towne Center),
(800) 300-4345 or (562) 916-8500

For a relatively new theatre, which just opened in 1993, the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts has already seen its share of stars.

The very first performer to grace the new stage at the Cerritos Center was none other than the legendary Frank Sinatra.

The 154,000-square-foot theatre is state-of-the-art, with floor seats that can be rearranged to create six different of different configurations. The stage can also be changed into various sizes. Even the indoor towers, which hold the Center's box seats, can be repositioned.

Granted, it's a bit off the beaten track for Los Angelenos, located just a few miles northwest of Knott's Berry Farm, but it's well worth the drive if your favorite star is appearing there.

Stars who have performed on stage at the Cerritos Center includeWhitney Houston, Bill Cosby, Wayne Newton, Tom Jones, Tony Bennett, Michael Crawford, Liza Minnelli, Randy Newman, Itzhak Perlman, Wynonna, the Beach Boys, Peter Paul & Mary, Natalie Cole, Carol Burnett, Harry Belafonte, Milton Berle, Bernadette Peters, Patti LuPone, Tommy Tune, Smokey Robinson, Doc Severinsen, Wynton Marsalis, Neil Sedaka, Chicago, the Four Tops & the 5th Dimension, the Temptations & Little Richard, plus classical concerts and Broadway shows such as "Fiddler on the Roof," "Showboat," "The Wizard of Oz" and "Porgy & Bess."

And not all of the stars are on stage. When Bocelli performed here recently, Elizabeth Taylor was in the audience.
