The unique building you see behind them houses the pier's historic carousel, (which was featured in the movie "The Sting"). (In a related scene, Tuvok & Paris are seen walking under the same pier.) The pier is north of Venice, on the beach at the west end of Colorado Ave, in Santa Monica.
