The Southern California locations where Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is filmed.
Episode 8, of Season 2 ("The Things We Bury") We see a black SUV pull up next to a large log cabin home, in a forested rural area. Inside is Grant Ward's brother, Senator Christian Ward. Suddenly, fugitive Grant Ward appears and takes his brother hostage. He forces him to dig to uncover an old well, where he claims that his brother once forced him to throw his younger brother. Grant then threatens to throw the Senator down the well unless he admits what he did. His brother cracks and confesses, saying that he wanted his younger brother dead. We later learn that Ward has killed both the Senator and his abusive parents, and has used a tape recording of his brother's confession to make it look like a murder-suicide by Christian. This was a hard one to track down, since the only thing I had to go on was a log cabin and a bit of rural landscape. I thought it might have been shot at Disney Ranch, but it wasn't. However, all those oak trees made me suspect that it was probably filmed in the Thousand Oaks area, where I know there are a number of smaller movie ranches. So I eventually tracked it down. This scene was shot at the Canyon Ranch, at 368 E. Carlisle Road, in Thousand Oaks, CA. The log cabin is a part of the ranch, referred to as "the main log cabin", since they have two smaller cabins as well. Here are photos of that main log cabin: Here is a Google StreetView of the main gates to Canyon Ranch. The photos on this
