Marvel's Agents of SHIELD - Filming Locations: General Talbot lands in helicopter

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD

The Southern California locations where Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is filmed.

Episode 2, of Season 2 ("Heavy is the Head")

This is actually two different scenes, one near the start of the episode, and one near the end.

But both involve General Talbot arriving in a field/meadow, both involve landing aircraft, and
both scenes were shot at the same place - so, I thought I'd combine them on this page.

In the first brief scene, new S.H.I.E.L.D. operative Lance Hunter is taken from the trunk
of a car by two uniformed soldiers, and rather unceremoniously dumped in a field.

Moments later, General Talbot lands nearby, in a helicopter.

He gets out, introduces himself to Hunter, then takes Hunter for a ride
in the 'copter (where he tries to convince him to give up Coulson).

In the second scene, we see Coulson waiting for Talbot in a field. Talbot and his men show up
in a small convoy of three SUVs.  At first, it appears that Coulson is surrendering himself.

and Coulson have a brief talk, during which Talbot tells Coulson that he knows that
S.H.I.E.L.D. no longer has the manpower or artillery "to take down a convenience store".

At which point, Coulson shows his hand, as two cloaked/invisible S.H.I.E.L.D. aircraft suddenly
materialize out of nowhere - one hovering above them (guns trained on Talbot) and another
on the ground, waiting for Coulson.  Having impressed Talbot, Coulson gets in and takes off.

Both of these scenes were shot at Disney's Golden Oak Ranch,
at 19802 Placerita Canyon Road, in Newhall, CA.

Here's a photo of Golden Oak Ranch, from their website:

Newhall is in the hills north of the San Fernando Valley, about five miles southeast of
Six Flags Magic Mountain, and about 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.

The Disney Company has operated this movie ranch for ages.

Back in the days of the original Mickey Mouse Club (in the late 1950's), they
shot "Spin & Marty" and "Zorro" here, and have since filmed everything from
"Old Yeller" to "Pirates of the Caribbean" at the ranch.

With recent expansion, they have renamed the place "Disney Studios at the Ranch".

And since Disney makes the show, owns the ABC network that broadcasts it,
and even owns Marvel Studio, this ranch is a logical choice.

They've shot several other S.H.I.E.L.D. scenes, previously, at the ranch, mostly when
they need to simulate a forest, farm or other rural environment - including scenes set
in Wrigley, Pennsylvania, Batesville, Utah, Wyoming, Canada and Colorado.

Here is a Google StreetView of the main gates to Golden Oak Ranch.
