Marvel's Agents of SHIELD - Filming Locations: Raina Attempts Suicide

The Southern California locations where Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is filmed.

Episode 11, of Season 2 ("Aftershocks")

42:00 / 54:00: In an earlier episode, Hydra operative Raina exposed herself (and Skye) to the
Inhumans' unpredictable Terrigen Mist, in hopes of being transformed into something wonderful.

Instead, she emerged a rather hideous creature covered in
porcupine-like quills (or, as she calls them, "thorns").

After Skye's father tells Raina that there is nothing he can do to help her, and callously
suggests that she might want to consider suicide if she can't cope with
her new appearance, Raina does just that.

In this scene, we see her at night, standing on the side of a busy street, about to deliberately
walk into traffic to kill herself. She steps off the curb and walks slowly across the street,
as cars swerve to avoid hitting her.

Suddenly, armed troops arrive and surround her:

Just as they are about to capture her, there is a plasma burst, and Gordon (an eyeless,
teleporting kid that we saw at the start of this episode) appears (now all grown up),
and rescues her - transporting her away from the scene.

This scene was shot in San Pedro, CA. (at the L.A. harbor), on S. Harbor Boulevard,
at the south end of 9th Street, approximately 850 S. Harbor Blvd,
on a hill overlooking Ports O'Call Village.

As Harbor Blvd runs south between 7th Street & 16th Street, it climbs a small hill/incline,
running between two short cliffsides. Above Harbor Blvd is San Pedro Plaza Park and Gaffey Street.
Below it is a cliff face that leads down to Sampson Way and the Ports O' Call parking lot.

In the scene, Raina is walking west - crossing from the east side of Harbor Blvd. to its west side.

Pause the scene, and you'll see a flight of stairs on the other side of the street:

These stairs lead up the short cliff face to San Pedro Plaza Park,
and to the intersection of Gaffey Street & 9th Street.
