Marvel's Agents of SHIELD - Filming Locations: Potomac Plaza

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD

The Southern California locations where Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is filmed.

Episode 1, of Season 2 ("Shadows")

This scene introduces an old favorite Marvel villain, Crusher Creel, AKA "The Absorbing Man".

We first see General Talbot and his family on an outing at (what is supposed to be)
Potomac Plaza, apparently a fictitious park in Washington D.C.

When he answers a phone (slipped into his pocket), it's a call from Coulson, who tells
Talbot that he's in danger, and that they are there to protect him.  He doesn't appreciate
the gesture, and instead threatens to throw Coulson in GTMO.

Just then, Crusher Creel (a super villain with the ability to absorb the qualities of
anything he touches), appears and is about to attack Talbot.

Melinda May appears and fights Creel.  During the fight, he rips off a large ball and chain from
a park fence, absorbs its properties, and swings it as a weapon. (In Marvel comics, the
ball & chain was his trademark, since he started out as an escaped convict.)

Between Melinda, Skye and some late-arriving troops, they manage to subdue Creel,
and take him into custody.  But that turns out to be just what he wanted...

This is supposed to be Washington, D.C., but of course, it's not...

These battle scenes were actually filmed at L.A.'s Exposition Park.
You'll find it right next to the campus of USC, at 701 State Drive, in Los Angeles,
about two miles southwest of downtown L.A.

To be more specific, it was shot in the Exposition Park Rose Garden, which is located
between the Natural History Museum and the Museum of Science & Industry.

The camera is looking south, towards the Exposition Park fountain.
The large park also contains the L.A. Coliseum and the L.A. Sports Arena.

Here is a matching Google StreetView of the fountain:
