Marvel's Agents of SHIELD

The Southern California locations where Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is filmed.

Episode 13, of Season 2 ("One of Us")

8:00: In this short scene, we see Dr. Andrew Gardner (Blair Underwood) standing in
front of a building on a college campus, talking to an associate.

Just then, he spots Melinda May standing at the bottom of the steps, looking up at him.

He walks down the steps to meet her, and she tells him that S.H.I.E.L.D. needs his help.

It turns out that Dr. Gardner is May's ex-husband, and she's on campus to recruit
him in an effort to help Skye, who has just recently gained super powers.

According the S.H.I.E.L.D. protocol, Skye must be given a psych evaluation,
and that's where Dr. Gardner comes in, as May tries to sell him on the idea.
He agrees to help, but only under his own set of conditions.

The caption tells us that this is supposed to be "Culver University" in West Virginia.
But, of course, it's not.

The classic white building with the columns is Fowler Hall, on the campus of
L.A.'s own Occidental College, the alma mater of President Obama.

Fowler Hall is located on Bird Road, but the official address
of Occidental College is 1600 Campus Road, in Los Angeles, CA.

(That's in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of L.A.)

In the scene, we are  looking at the north-facing side of Fowler Hall,
and Dr. Garner walks west down the steps, towards May.

Fowler Hall was built in 1914, designed by the same architect who built the Rose Bowl.

The campus shows up often as a filming location, in everything from
"Clueless" to "Star Trek III" (where it played the planet Vulcan).

"Culver University" isn't new to the Marvel Universe.  The fake college
also appeared in the 2008 movie "The Incredible Hulk".
