Larry Crowne - Filming Locations (part 3)

Part 3

The Southern California locations where
"Larry Crowne" was filmed.

49:50: Julia is outside a donut shop, in her car, in the rain, when she sees Larry & Talia arrive together,
and jumps to the (wrong) conclusion that they are sleeping together - which makes her angry.

The sign says it all. This actually is the Donut Prince, located at 1721 W. Olive Ave, in Burbank, CA.

It's only about half a mile southwest of Frank's Restaurant, on the same street.

In the above shot, the camera is looking north.

53:44: Talia is on her scooter when she stumbles across an empty building for rent.
She gets off her bike and peers in the windows, seeing potential.

This building is at the southeast corner of Lake Avenue & Boston Street, in Altadena.
They added a fake address (4225), but the real address is 906 Boston St, Altadena, CA.

It's about half a mile south of both the two previous Altadena locations where Larry went job-hunting.

In both of these screenshots, we are seeing the north side of the building

In the photo above, the camera is looking (southwest) through the window on its north side, out to Lake Avenue.

In the screenshot below, the camera is looking due south, at the north side of the building.

1:31:30: We see the same corner building again, near the end of the movie, when Julia's GPS unit
directs her to "4225 Harbor Street", where she finds that Talia has opened her
own boutique decorator's store (called Talia's) in that once-empty building.

Julia also learns that Larry now lives upstairs, in the apartments above the store.

54:59: Julia and her deadbeat husband (Bryan Cranston) come out of a restaurant,
and as usual, they are bickering. By the time they are in their car, the argument
becomes explosive, and they exchange insults.

Once again, the sign is real. This is the venerable Tam O'Shanter restaurant,
at 2980 Los Feliz Blvd, in the Atwater Village section of Los Angeles
(which is just southwest of Griffith Park, near the border with Glendale).

This Scottish-themed restaurant was built in 1922, making it one of the oldest restaurants in L.A.
Walt Disney was a regular (and doesn't its architecture remind you a bit of Fantasyland?)

57:00: The argument in the car gets worse, he crosses the line, and she demands that he stop the car and let her out.
He tries a weak apology, but it's too late. They are still screaming insults as he drives away.

This short, nasty scene was shot in front of Club Tee Gee, a dive bar at 3210 Glendale Blvd,
in Atwater Village, just a few blocks south of the Tam O'Shanter restaurant.

57:19: Now stranded in the middle of nowhere, after the argument, we see Julia sitting on a
bus bench (under a bus shelter). When who should drive past, but Larry Crowne...

He stops and offers her a ride home on his scooter.

This is an actual bus shelter, and you'll find it at the southeast corner of Glendale Blvd & Glenhurst Avenue.
The address of the loan shop, glimpsed behind her, is 3100 Glendale Blvd, in Atwater Village.

It's just two blocks west of Club Tee Gee, on the same side of the street.

59:03: We next see both Larry and Julia on his little scooter, heading down the street at a
very slow pace. Drunk, she declares that he is "driving so slow, a cat could knock us over."

In the screenshot above, they are traveling northeast on Glendale Blvd, passing Larga Avenue.

The camera is looking northwest from Larga Ave, towards Glendale Blvd.

This intersection is a few steps east of where her husband dropped her off, and
two and a half blocks east of the bus bench where she had been waiting.

59:25: As they head home, Larry spots someone being arrested for DUI up ahead. It turns out to be her
husband getting arrested, and she is delighted, yelling insults as they scooter past the scene.

For this scene, they cheated just a little, leaving Glendale Blvd (where they had filmed the shots
of her getting out of the car, sitting on the bench, and sitting on the scooter), and moved back
a few blocks north, to the street where the bickering couple first came out of the restaurant.

This scene was shot two blocks west of the Tam O'Shanter, on the street in front of 3110 Los Feliz Blvd.
It's on the south side of the boulevard, just west of Edenhurst Avenue. Their scooter is headed east.

1:08:20: Larry takes her home, she makes a pass at him, but she's drunk, so he doesn't take advantage.
But he's very happy that she's interested in him. The next day, however, at class, she's sober,
having second thoughts, and she tells him it was all a mistake, and to forget about it.

In this short scene, we see him heading home from college on his scooter, after that rejection.

They filmed this scene on Sherman Way, in Reseda.

He is heading west, passing the Sherman Park apartments at 17960 Sherman Way.

(It's part of the same route they used when they filmed the earlier "scooter gang" cruising scenes.)

1:09:18: Larry, back in his old neighborhood, sits out at the curb with his yard-sale neighbor,
while kids play in the street. He's dejected, and his neighbor tries to cheer him up.

The house seen across the street, with the white picket fence, is at 8637 Balcom Ave, in Northridge.

It's just two houses southeast of Larry's house, on the same small cul-de-sac.

In the movie's last 24 minutes, there are no new locations - we get scenes returning to previous locations,
including the college, Frank's restaurant, his house, her condo, and finally back to Talia's new shop.
