And speaking of the Godfreys, where is the Godfrey mansion?
The interior scenes (and many of the shots on the grounds) were filmed at the Parkwood Estate,
the historic mansion of the founder of General Motors Canada.
It can be found at 270 Simcoe Street N, in Oshawa, Ontario, and is open to the public
for tours. It's about 14 miles southeast of Port Perry's main street location.
For comparison, here is a shot of the Parkwood Estate's dining room (from their website):
Note that you can see the same framed portrait of a woman,
that can also be seen on the right side of the screencap above.
And that early scene of Roman Godfrey having sex in a sports car?
That was filmed in the parking lot behind the Parkwood mansion,
next to one of the 11 greenhouses on the estate.
A number of other movies have been shot at Parkwood, including X-Men and Chicago.
Here is a Google StreetView
panorama of the Parkwood Estate:
Oddly enough, though, despite all of this filming at the Parkwood Estate (as well as shots
from several dream sequences), for some reason, they didn't use the front of the
Parkwood mansion when they show establishing shots of the Godfrey home.
(Perhaps they thought it was too recognizable.)
Instead, for exterior shots, they show a very different, French Normandy-style house:
I hadn't been able to track that one down. But fortunately, Charles of Seattle
(who runs the wonderful Twin Peaks location site), sent me the location.
Turns out it is Eaton Hall, the former estate of the Eaton Family, in King City, Ontario,
which was later donated by Lady Eaton to Seneca College, and later became an inn.
The official address is 13990 Dufferin Street, King City. But that is really only the address
of Seneca College (King Campus). Above that campus is Lake Seneca, and this 72-room
mansion is located just north of that lake, at the end of a road called Plaxton Way.
The GPS coordinates of Eaton Hall are 43.96164,-79.52075.
( Thanks to Charles, for letting me know. If you're a Twin Peaks fan,
be sure to visit his website at http://www.intwinpeaks.com. )
In one of the more grisly scenes on the show, Roman & Peter sneak into the Hemlock Grove cemetery at night and dig up the body of a girl mutilated by a werewolf.
That scene was actually shot at Hamilton Cemetery, at 777 York Blvd, in Hamilton, Ontario.
It's about a mile west of Liuna Station (AKA the Godfrey Institute).
(The small, white mausoleum, seen in the screencap below, is located just
northwest of the cemetery's main entrance on York Blvd.)
Here is a Google StreetView
panorama of the cemetery, showing the same
family mausoleum seen in the screencap above:)
(It's a bit blurry because I had to zoom in to show the mausoleum.
Just zoom out for a wider view of the cemetery.)
Then there's the mental hospital (Hemlock Acres Center) run by Dr. Norman Godfrey
(Roman's uncle & illicit lover of Roman's mother), where the crazed patient (Francis) kept
saying that he had "seen the Dragon" (until he wound up dead, with a needle in his skull).
The hospital exterior, seen in the screencap above, is actually University College,
at 15 Kings College Circle, on the campus of the University of Toronto.
The camera is looking north.
( It's about 4 miles east of the high school location. )

In Episode 5, there are two scenes of Roman and Peter driving in his sports car.
In
the first scene, they're driving during the daytime, after school,
when a
suspicious Roman asks Peter if he had a good lunch with his cousin,
(after spotting them together). Peter replies that "She pities me".
This scene was shot at the intersection of Celina Street and Athol Street E.,
in Oshawa, Ontario (about half a mile southwest of the Parkwood Estate).
The car is driving south on Celina, while the camera looks north.
Here is a matching Google StreetView:
In
the second scene, they're driving after dark, rap music playing,
coming back from a meeting with Peter's gypsy fortune telling cousin, Destiny,
...when Roman asks Peter why she wouldn't tell him what she saw in his palm.
At first, these shots appear to be two separate locations, but actually, both driving scenes were filmed at the same intersection,
of Celina Street & Athol Street E.
The difference is that they changed the direction the car was driving,
and changed the direction the camera was looking.
While they were headed south down Celina in the first shot, in this second shot,
they are headingwest on Athol St. E., with the camera looking west.
Here is a matching Google StreetView looking that same direction:
( Thanks to Penny for the tip on the location. )
The mural you see on the right wall is titled "The Borsberry Music Hall",
and was painted in 1995 by Brian Romagnoli.
( Click the photo to see a larger image of the mural. )
In Episode 10, the next full moon arrives, and the werewolf strikes again.
This time the victims are the twin teenage daughters of Sheriff Sworn,
and the location of the attack is the Sheriff's house.
The Sheriff is standing guard in his home with a shotgun, but when he hears a sound
outside, he makes the mistake of going out to investigate. While he's poking around
the back yard, the beast enters his house and eviscerates his daughters, up in their room.
That brick house is actually located at 161 Melville Street, in Dundas, Ontario.
[Warning: This is a private home. Do not trespass on their property,
knock on their door, or do anything else that might disturb the residents.]

From the 12th episode, we have the convenience store where Peter & Roman
stop (on their way to the final showdown) to buy a cable, to tie up the wolf.
Once inside the store, they have the misfortune to encounter an angry guy
(behind the counter) who had earlier tried to pick a fight with Roman at a bar.
In real life, this is a Busy Bee Food Mart, at 524 Barton Street East, in Hamilton,
about a mile southeast of of Liuna Station (AKA the Godfrey Institute).
(For some reason, they felt compelled to insert an & in between the words
on the store sign, turning the name into "Busy & Bee Food Mart".)
Here is a Google StreetView
panorama of the store:
Finally, from the 13th episode, in a flashback to Olivia's childhood in Eastern Europe,
we see her as a pampered young girl, sitting outside her ancestral castle.
In real life, this castle is a long way from Europe.
It's known as the Casa Loma, and you'll find it at 1 Austin Terrace, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
It was built in 1911, as the home of Canadian financier Sir Henry Pellatt.
It is open for public tours, from May to October (see its website for more details).
( In the screencap above, the camera is looking south, at the castle's north side. )
